About this file

This solicitation document (582-26-15136) is a specification attachment for the Midland Regional Office in Texas seeking installation of a diesel generator system in a 2024 Ford F350 pickup truck bed. The project requires procurement and installation of a generator with custom mounting bracket, trailer hitch ball mount, and suspension assistance system. The generator must fit within truck bed dimensions of less than 4 feet between wheel wells, less than 6 feet in length, and not exceed 30 inches in height to maintain rear visibility. The unit must provide dual voltage output (110V and 220V) with at least one 60-amp plug, produce a minimum of 14,000 kW of power, operate on diesel fuel with a minimum runtime of one day at peak amperage, and weigh no more than 1,200 pounds including fuel to stay within the truck's 2,000-pound load capacity. The contractor is responsible for designing and installing secure mounting brackets utilizing factory bed bolt locations to prevent generator dislocation during incidents.

Additional requirements include a trailer hitch ball mount rated for minimum 18,000 pounds with a 2 5/8-inch ball sized to adjust ride height, and air suspension bags with complete mounting kit providing a minimum 5,000-pound lifting capacity to maintain proper drivetrain geometry and tire wear. The generator must be wired with an external plug compatible with the existing NEMA 14-60P 60A-125/250V power cord (model 9461C or 9462C angle) that the regional office already possesses, or an appropriate adapter may be utilized. No pricing information, award dates, response deadlines, or contract term details are specified in this specifications attachment.

Attachment A Specifications - Description

The Midland Regional Office needs a generator installed in the bed of a 2024 Ford F350 pickup truck. The generator and a custom bracket fabricated to mount a generator to the bed of the truck will need to be installed causing the least amount of alteration to the truck. The truck is a standard single axle truck with an 8-foot box. Please see the drawing provided below.

Minimum General Specifications:

Generator:

1. It must be designed to fit in the truck bed since it cannot be towed. The vehicle will also be towing a box trailer when in use. There is no other place to mount it.

2. The dimensions of the generator must be sized to the dimensions of the truck bed (less than 4 feet between the wheel wheels and less than 6 feet long). The height should not exceed 30 inches to maintain visual out of the back of the truck for safety.

3. Fuel source should be diesel for safety; this gas is safer for traveling.

4. If the generator has an internal fuel tank, minimum run time at peak amperage/voltage should last at least one day or an external transfer fuel tank should be installed with fuel pump. Run time was determined for Emergency Response Actions. Enough Fuel is needed to operate the equipment when fuel souce are scarce.

5. Generator weight with fuel should not exceed 1,200 pounds. The truck is rated as a 1 ton with 2000 pounds load capacity. Then generator needs to be light enough to meet this limit with the needed fuel that will be carried along with other equipment/passengers.

6. The generator needs to have 110 volt and 220 volts with at least 1 60 amp plug to run the necessary external equipment. The QC Travel requires a 220 volt to operate. 110 volts are needed as a backup once deployed.

7. The generator needs to be able to produce a minimum of 14,000KW power requirements.

Electrical:

8. The generator will need to be wired with an external plug that matches the monitoring trailer power cord (regional office already has the power cord NEMA 14-60P 60A-125/250V – 3P Straight -9461C-angle-9462C) or an adaptor may be used.

Solicitation Number: 582-26-15136

Bracket:

9. Contractor will be responsible for installing and securing the generator to the truck bed to prevent it from becoming dislodged or ejected during an accident or other incident. Brackets may or may not be used. The bracket or what is used to secure generator should utilize the factory bed bolt locations.

Trailer Hitch Ball Mount:

10. The hitch needs to adjust to set the correct ride height with a 2 5/8-inch ball and be rated for a minimum of 18,000 pounds.

Suspension aid:

11. To maintain the correct drivetrain, geometry, and improve tire wear air bags with complete mounting kit are needed and should be a minimum of 5000-pound lifting capacity, this is the cap.
