About this file

This is a specifications attachment for a Photometric Ozone (O3) Calibrator under Texas solicitation number 582-26-15242. The document outlines the technical requirements for a microprocessor-controlled ozone calibration system designed for calibrating precision ambient ozone instruments. The equipment must include an internal ozone photometer that provides closed-loop feedback control of ozone concentration, along with a battery-backed-up electronic clock capable of 24-hour timekeeping with remote synchronization capabilities via RS-232 commands. The calibrator must automatically restart following power outages without requiring readjustment or recalibration.

The minimum system specifications require the equipment to meet stringent performance standards including linearity of 1.0 percent of full scale, precision of 1.0 parts per billion (ppb), a response time of 240 seconds to 95 percent, and seven-day stability parameters. The document does not specify quantities, pricing terms, response deadlines, site visits, bidders meetings, award dates, contract terms, or renewal options, focusing exclusively on the technical and operational requirements for the ozone calibration equipment.

Attachment B Specifications for Photometric Ozone (O3) Calibrator

Description: Photometric ozone analyzer with built in ozone generator;

microprocessor-controlled ozone calibrators for calibration of precision ambient ozone instruments; Features internal ozone photometer that provide accurate closed loop feedback control of the ozone concentration.

Minimum System Specifications

1. The O3 calibrator shall include a battery backed-up electronic clock that includes 24-hourtime, days, months, and years. The clock should be settable via the keypad (also remotely) and continue to operate during power outages. The clock will be synched to the system one or more times weekly via RS-232 commands.

2. The O3 calibrator shall restart itself after a power outage and shall not require readjustment or recalibration upon resumption of power.

3. Linearity: ± 1.0% of full scale

4. Precision: 1.0 ppb

5. Response Time: 240 seconds to 95%

6. Stability: (7-days) <1% photometer feedback; <3% without photometer feedback (CNST or REF)

7. Operating Temperature Range: 5-40ºC

8. Humidity Range: 0 - 95% RH, non-condensing

9. AC Power: 100V – 120V, 60Hz, 3.0 A

10. Analog Output Range: 1 V, range with 5% under/over-range. Additional analog output ranges are optional. The O3 calibrator must have an automatic calibration of the analog output channels and an option to manually calibrate analog output channels.

11. Standard I/O:

• 1 Ethernet: 10/100Base-T

• 2 RS-232 (300 – 115,200 baud)

• 2 USB device ports

• 12 opto-isolated digital control outputs

• 12 opto-isolated digital control inputs

• 8 opto-isolated digital status outputs

12. Unit shall have a gas pressure sensor, photometer sample gas pressure sensor, and ozone generator inlet pressure sensor. All sensors must be re-calibratable.

Minimum Specifications for Ozone Generator

1. Flow Rate: 1-15 LPM adjustable with external zero air source. Internal zero air source optional

2. Concentration: Must have ultra-low ozone production capability, down to 3 ppb O3.

3. Response time must be less than 240 seconds to 98%

4. The system shall incorporate an internal ultraviolet (UV) optical sensor in a feedback circuit to control the generation of ozone to produce a constant, stable and repeatable ozone concentration.

5. Calibration data for the ozone generator shall be stored internally. The O3 calibrator’s software shall include a routine for automatically calibrating the ozone generator and have the option to run an automatic ozone generator calibration program.

6. The ozone generator shall be temperature controlled and be insensitive to ambient light and temperature variations.

Minimum Specifications for O3 Photometer

1. Ranges: 0-100 ppb to 0-10 ppm, user selectable

2. Zero noise: 0.3 ppb (RMS)

3. Span noise: <0.5%

4. Lower detectable limits: 0.6 ppb (RMS)

5. Precision: 1.0 ppb

6. Linearity: 1.0% of Full Scale

7. Lag time: <10 seconds

8. Rise/Fall Time: <20 seconds (photometer response)

9. Zero Drift: <1.0 ppb / 7 days

10. Span Drift: <1% / 24 hours; <2% / 7 days

11. Flow Rate: 500-1000 cc/min

Special requirements

1. These instruments are to be integrated into an existing complex calibration and data acquisition system (DAS) and must therefore perform and operate exactly as the existing calibrators already in place.

2. Must be preloaded with hardware specific remote access software

(Numaview) that allows for remote connection with virtual interface and data downloading capabilities.

Physical requirements

1. Freestanding cabinet with display and manual key entry at front. Air inlets and outlets at the rear.

2. All gas handling components shall be constructed of non-reactive materials, Teflon, stainless steel, glass or equivalent.

3. DB-25 connector (male) and solenoid driver output at the rear. The solenoid driver connector shall mate with a Weidmuller BL series plug 12601-6. The pin out of this connector shall match existing connectors and wiring. The drive for the solenoids shall be open collector type to pull +12 volt to ground with up to 1.5-amp load.

Operating system internal software

1. The O3 calibrator can be setup to automatically time and program sequences and have sequences started externally. Levels and sequences can be programmed into the calibrator either remotely or manually and will be retained in the calibrator’s memory. The calibrator shall report the status of the running sequence and level when interrogated.

2. The nomenclature used with the levels and sequences includes additional information called status blocks which provides additional data to the data retrieval system.

3. The O3 calibrator communicates with the data retrieval/control system via a system called “dot commands.” This is a system which involves a higher language for control/reporting.

4. The O3 calibrator must continuously perform internal diagnostic tests to evaluate its key operating parameters without disturbing monitoring operations. The calibrator must also be able to convey when its subsystems are not operating within their optimum ranges via various warning messages that appear on the front panel display.

Special Terms

1. All units will be delivered with two (2) sets of Operation and

Service/Maintenance manuals. The manuals will include at minimum the following: complete operating instructions, circuit descriptions, theory of operation, location of controls and switches, software commands, maintenance, service instructions, schematic diagrams, pneumatic flow charts, lists of replacement parts, warnings, and safety precautions.

2. Warranty period: complete coverage of system, parts and labor for a minimum of two years from date of acceptance.

3. The O3 calibrator must include an attached handle for carrying the instrument.
