About this file
This document is Addendum No. 1 to Request for Proposals 739-SL3782534 issued by Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) for Vehicle Retrofit Services on a Mobile Medical Van. The RFP seeks to retrofit a 2022 Ford Transit 250 with a 130-inch wheelbase and medium roof, which will provide approximately 110 inches of usable interior space behind the front partition. The requested modifications include installation of a refrigerator/freezer, 4.0-kilowatt gas generator, Starlink mini wiring and mounting, desk and cabinet components, grey water sink, AC/heater fan, electrical wiring, and paneling. TTUHSC acknowledges that the initial van may not accommodate all desired features due to space constraints and is open to prioritizing and phasing components while maintaining scalability for future vehicle builds. The vendor is responsible for customizing cabinetry and other components to fit the specific dimensions of the provided vehicle.
The addendum responds to vendor questions regarding specifications and configuration options. Bidders are requested to provide quotes for refrigerator options in both 2.5 and 4 cubic foot capacities and fresh water tank sizes of 10, 20, and 30 gallons, with vendor recommendations based on space efficiency and power consumption. Additional specifications include a 30-amp shore power connection, strategically placed 110-volt outlets and USB outlets at workstation and equipment areas, and no water heater requirement. TTUHSC will provide the 2022 Ford Transit 250 for this project and is not considering trade-in options or alternative vehicle configurations at this time, though future program expansion may involve vehicles with different specifications.

Vehicle Retrofit Services - Mobile Medical Van
RESPONSE TO QUESTIONS
The following responses to participant questions are fully incorporated into the Request for Proposals 739-SL3782534.
Question TTUHSC Response
1. Please confirm the following:
2022 Ford transit 250 130” med roof van
• From the bill of sale…130” WHEELBASE, MEDIUM ROOF CREW VAN
(5-PASS),
• 8,670#GVWR, 3.5L-V6
2. Generator wattage size is needed. Normal install would be a 4.0KW gas Onan generator under rear of van and remove the spare tire and mount to rear door. Is 4000 watts sufficient for intended use? 4000 watts will run a roof top 13500BTU AC with estimated 2500 watts remining for other equipment.
• Yes, the remaining wattage should be sufficient for a 4cf refrigerator, occasional device charging, and Starlink.
• If you anticipate any performance concerns based on your experience, we welcome your recommendations.
3. Bid has these items: Modified van interior to include:
Refrigerator / Freezer Generator Wiring Starlink mini wiring and mounting Desk Cabinets Grey Water Sink AC / Heater Fan Paneling. Pictures show cabinets, bid to be as close to this as possible? Please keep in mind I think your retro van is a 130” wheel base with 110” of usable space behind front partition.
• Yes, the pictures provided are a broad overview. It’s understood the cabinetry, desk, etc. will have to be modified to fit our van.
• We understand the 130” wheelbase provides approximately 110” of usable space behind the partition. While the RFP includes a comprehensive list of desired features, we recognize that the first van may not accommodate every “bells and whistles” item due to space constraints.
• The RFP reflects features we anticipate incorporating into additional vehicles as we scale the program. For this first unit, we are open to prioritizing and phasing components as needed while maintaining future scalability.
4. Ref/ freezer size, 2.5 or 4 CF? • Please quote both 2.5 CF and 4 CF options, with your recommendation based on space efficiency and power consumption.
5. Fresh water tank size, 10, 20, 30 gallons? Please provide recommendations and pricing for 10-, 20-, and 30-gallon options. Space efficiency will be a determining factor for this initial build.
6. Water heater? • Not required.
7. 30 AMP shore power connection? • Yes, please include a 30 AMP shore power connection quote
8. Outlet location, 110 and USB? • Please include strategically placed 110V outlets at the workstation and near key equipment areas. We welcome your layout recommendations for optimal usability.
9. The mission TTUHSC wants to achieve requires an extended, high roof van capable of supporting the weight and project. Would TTUHSC consider letting the selected vendor supply the correct van for the project, meet the delivery deadline and offer a trade in credit for the van or vans TTUHSC may have?
• At this time, TTUHSC will provide the 2022 Ford Transit 250 for this project.
We are not considering a trade-in option for this vehicle.
• While we understand that an extended high-roof van may better accommodate the full mission scope, this first build will proceed with the existing vehicle.
Future vehicles may differ in configuration as the program expands.
