About this file
This Questions & Answers document is from the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) regarding an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for barber services at the McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility in Mart, Texas. The service requirements include providing approximately 200-265 haircuts per month, with services to include clipper cuts, edge-ups, and trimmer cuts for both male and female residents. The subcontractor performing the work must possess a current Texas Barber License, complete PREA Education, pass background checks, and undergo fingerprinting. The barber schedule must coordinate with the youth scheduling for the campus and be approved by the Superintendent, with monthly feedback meetings required.
The previous contract holder was Miles Adanandus Barber Shop with a winning bid of $21.49 per haircut. Payment will only be made for actual haircuts provided as documented on the INS800 haircutting log, with no guaranteed minimum quantity. The facility will supply all allowed items required for haircuts as a cost-saving measure. The bid submission must be completed on the IFB Form and include the bidder's ID number or Social Security number, address, signature, bid amount per haircut, and a current copy of the Texas Barber License. Basic cuts are requested for women residents, similar to those provided to male residents, with no additional styling services required at this time.
