About this file

This is an Addendum (#2) issued by the Texas Historical Commission (THC) containing questions and answers for RFP 808-25-231611 regarding interpretive planning services for the Sam Bell Maxey House. The RFP seeks a contractor to develop a comprehensive Interpretive Master Plan for the historic site, with the project beginning January 10, 2025, and running for an initial two-year term with a possible one-year extension. The scope includes developing interpretive plans for approximately 12 rooms in the main house, one outbuilding containing admissions/museum store/gallery space, and surrounding grounds and gardens. The project typically takes 18-24 months to complete and involves coordinating with 4-6 other historic sites for programmatic inclusion recommendations. Proposals are due by December 6, 2024 at 2:00 PM CT.

The THC does not disclose budget information for interpretive projects since pricing is part of the proposal scoring process. The selected contractor will work directly with THC Historic Sites central office staff in Austin and on-site Maxey House staff, with no outside partner organizations involved. THC will provide organized electronic files of site materials, visitor/market research data, and coordinate stakeholder workshops. Deliverables include monthly progress reports, a preliminary site analysis report, stakeholder meeting analysis, and multiple draft submissions before final plan acceptance. Proposals must be submitted as a single PDF containing all required Section 3.3 items and include evidence of financial responsibility and stability.
