About this file
This document is a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by the Texas Historical Commission (THC) for the development of an Interpretive Master Plan for the Charles and Mary Ann Goodnight Ranch State Historic Site located in Armstrong County, Texas. The THC is seeking the services of a qualified individual or firm with proven experience in creating comprehensive Interpretive Master Plans for historic house sites and other history-related venues. The goal of the project is to complete a recent but unfinished draft Interpretive Master Plan that requires additional research, recommendations, and finalization to best identify and communicate the important themes, subthemes, and stories, ideas, values and meanings of the site. The selected contractor will be working off a partially completed plan and will be tasked with adding to and bringing the plan to completion. All face-to-face meetings will take place either at the THC Historic Sites Division Office in Austin or at the Charles and Mary Ann Goodnight Ranch State Historic Site in Claude, Texas.
The RFP outlines the evaluation criteria, which includes the respondent's proposed approach, experience, and qualifications, as well as the submitted price schedule. Preference will be given to vendors who have completed similar interpretive planning projects for historic properties, especially those related to the cattle industry and late 19th/early 20th century farm and domestic sites. The new Interpretive Master Plan must generate updated recommendations for the best interpretive services and programs possible, focusing on desired learning, behavioral, and emotional outcomes.
