About this file
This equipment specifications document outlines the technical requirements for Open Path Gas Analyzers that Auburn University's College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment seeks through sealed bidding in Alabama. The procurement calls for two primary instrument types: an Open Path CO2/H2O Gas Analyzer and an Open Path CH4 Analyzer, each with specific performance and operational parameters. The CO2/H2O analyzer must utilize NDIR technology to measure both gases at up to 20Hz frequency with a 12.5-inch open path, operate across temperatures from -25°C to 50°C, feature a sealed sensor head with sapphire optical windows, and include Ethernet connectivity and USB data logging capabilities via SmartFlux3 and EddyPro software. The instrument must consume only 4W nominal power (10.5 to 30 VDC input) with solar panel compatibility and include calibration gases ranging from zero to 3,000 parts per million for channel calibration.
The CH4 Analyzer specification requires in-situ methane density measurement capabilities suitable for eddy covariance techniques with resolution, speed, and stability appropriate for remote ecosystem characterization. This analyzer must operate in the same temperature range (-25°C to 50°C), deliver high-precision measurement at 5 ppb RMS noise at 10Hz with 40Hz data output capability, feature a self-cleaning lower mirror and Wavelength Modulation Spectroscopy detection, and provide undamped CH4 measurements without the pressure drops, tubing attenuation, or time delays associated with closed-path systems. Both instruments are designed for field deployment requiring lightweight, low-power designs suitable for harsh environmental conditions.
