Enclosure (3).pdf

This document is an enclosure listing federal holidays for 2022. It provides a comprehensive schedule of ten federal holidays observed by the federal government, beginning with New Year's Day on Friday, December 31, 2021, and continuing through Christmas Day on Monday, December 26, 2022. The schedule includes major holidays such as the Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 17), Washington's Birthday (February 21), Memorial Day (May 30), Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day (September 5), Columbus Day (October 10), Veterans Day (November 11), and Thanksgiving Day (November 24).

The document includes three footnotes clarifying holiday observance rules for federal employees. The first notes that New Year's Day, falling on Saturday in 2022, will be observed on Friday, December 31, 2021, for most federal employees. The second explains that Washington's Birthday is designated as such under federal statute, though other institutions may use alternative names. The third indicates that Christmas Day, falling on Sunday in 2022, will be treated as a holiday for pay and leave purposes on Monday, December 26. These clarifications ensure federal employees understand the applicable observance dates when holidays fall on weekends.
