About this file

This document is an Employee Separation Checklist that provides guidance for handling separations of contractor personnel from a federal contract in both friendly and unfriendly circumstances.

The checklist outlines the specific actions that must be taken to remove network and system access, collect identification badges and keys, restrict the departing employee's access and movements, and notify the appropriate government personnel. The actions vary depending on whether the separation is friendly (e.g. resignation) or unfriendly (e.g. termination). Key requirements include disabling system access immediately, retrieving keys and access cards, escorting the individual off premises if there is a high risk of retaliation, and notifying the Project Officer and security officials within 24 hours of an unfriendly termination. The contractor must certify that these actions were completed.
