About this file
This document is an E-Verify compliance form from the City of Homestead, Florida, related to employment eligibility verification for contractors. The form mandates that effective January 1, 2021, all public and private employers, contractors, and subcontractors must register with and use the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's E-Verify System to verify work authorization status for all newly hired employees. Contractors must verify employment eligibility for all persons employed to perform duties within Florida during the contract term, including sub-vendors, subconsultants, and subcontractors.
The document outlines strict compliance requirements, including that contractors must obtain affidavits from subcontractors attesting they do not employ unauthorized aliens. Failure to comply can result in contract termination, with the contractor potentially barred from receiving public contracts from the City of Homestead for one year after termination. Any challenges to termination must be filed in Circuit Court within 20 calendar days. The form requires the contractor's signature, acknowledging these terms as an integral part of the bid and contract, and demonstrates the city's commitment to ensuring legal employment practices among its contractors.
