QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1. What is the estimated weight of the MG sets? This greatly affects the size of the crane required to rent during the period of performance. We do not have these weights
2. Will there be a seatrial and if so how long of a duration would be required? Covered in the latest amendment
3. The spec calls out to load bank test the bow thruster motor as well as the propulsion motors. This test is typically for generators only. If there is not a seatrial what would be an acceptable test to prove the work accomplished regarding the aforementioned motors? Covered in the latest amendment
4. Are there drawings available to send electronically to the contractors? Not sure what drawings you are needing.
5. Regarding the directional control valves under the steering gear overhaul job. These valves will typically be obsolete and require replacement with an upgraded model. The spec is calling for inkind replacement and not an overhaul along with the rest of the components. Typically a valve of this nature will have a long lead time. 6 weeks would not be out of the question. Are there hydraulic schematics and system design drawings available necessary for the contractor to spec out the appropriate valves? We have purchased new replacement valves recently for the sister ship. if in fact they are obsolete we will deal with it at that time.
6. Under the Motor-Generator Removal job according to the spec, the contractor is to update the following drawings;
· Fire and Safety Plans
· Electrical “One Line Diagrams”
· General Arrangement Plans
My question is how many drawings is this in totality, and are you looking for a “red pen” revision to the current drawings or will we be required to request a quote from a Naval Architect firm?
Covered in the latest amendment
7. It is noted in the contract that as of COB today, all bidding contractors will not be able to ask any further questions. It is my feeling that the ship check was scheduled late in the time frame allotted before the bid due date. The magnitude of this dockside service is great and the ship check resulted in many unanswered questions and requests for more information. My question is if you would be willing to extend the due date of the proposal out at a minimum of 7 days from the current due date? This will allow some extra time to reach out to additional vendors and subcontractors in order to present to you the most efficient and cost effective quotation to complete all of the work associated with the current solicitation. THE QUESTIONS SUBMISSION DATE WILL BE EXTENDED TO JULY 25, 2016 BY, 5pm CENTRAL
