OR PFH 163(14) Crown Point Viaduct Restoration Project, Mount Hood National Forest, Multnomah County, Oregon
We are seeking firms who are challenged by working on a high visibility project with a focus on highway/viaduct preservation and restoration.
The Crown Point Viaduct is an approximately 600-foot-long concrete structure located on the Historic Columbia River Highway (HCRH) adjacent to Vista House. The viaduct consists of a seven-foot-wide sidewalk, supported on interior and exterior columns. At nearly one hundred years old, the viaduct structure and retaining wall supporting the roadway is deteriorating and needs repair. Repair work will consist of:
1. Repair of viaduct columns and footings and reinforcement of structure edge beams;
2. Repair and strengthening of the bottom of the viaduct deck;
3. Repair of cracks in the top of the viaduct deck and parapet;
4. Restoration of viaduct light fixtures and updating of electrical components;
5. Repair of the masonry retaining wall;
6. Restoration of the original curb height at the viaduct;
Other project work will include rehabilitation of the roadway and adjacent historic curb and gutter between Larch Mountain Road and Latourall Fall Parking Area along the Historic Columbia River Highway. This work will include:
1. Milling of the existing road pavement to reduce edge drop-offs, restoration of the historic gutter and placing a new pavement overlay throughout the limits of the project area;
2. Restoration of guard rocks at three historic wall sites; and
3. Rehabilitation of the rehabilitation of the upper west parking lot at Crown Point.
This will be a sealed bid solicitation.
Project length: 3.13 miles
Tentative Fixed Completion Date: May 2013 (Once solicitation is issued, see FAR Clause 52.211-10 for exact date.)
Estimated Price Range: $5 million to $7 million
Location: approximately 8 miles east of Troutdale, Oregon on the Historic Columbia River Highway
