Questions and Answers during Advertisement for
CO FTNP DINO 101(2), DEERLODGE HARPER’S CORNER ROAD CULVERT REPAIR
March 7, 2017
Q1 – Can we substitute concrete in place of asphalt?
A1 – No
Q2 - When is the job showing?
A2 - There will be no formally held site visit. If you would like to visit the site, please contact Mike Hodgkinson at 970-620-0726.
Q3 - Whom do we coordinate with in terms of road closure during construction, road conditions, availability of water for construction, etc.
A3 - The Project Manager for Central Federal Lands is Matt Ambroziak. There will be an onsite construction inspection staff member (to be assigned later) and the National
Park Service Chief of Maintenance Mike Hodgkinson at 970-620-0726.
Q4 – I notice there is no slope in the new culvert? Was that on purpose?
A4- No survey data was available during the design phase of this project. It is anticipated that the culvert will be laid out in the field with an appropriate slope based on site conditions.
Q5 – According to the drawings, there is only 12" of flow fill over the new culvert? Is that correct?
A5 – Yes, this was the assumption made during design.
Q6 - On bid item #4 Embankment construction-can we use on site material or do you want import material?
A6 - Yes, on-site material may be used if it meets the requirements shown in the scope of work.

Q1 – How did you come up with 80 lf of culvert? The RFQ states on page 22 "do not order material until the CO has accepted the final structure size, length and alignment".
My question is this:
Bid items #4,7,9 &11 will all be effected by any change in the length of culvert determined by the CO. When do you plan on finalizing the culvert length?
A1 – The 80 LNFT was measured and estimated in the field. The intent is for the
Contractor to verify the estimated length during construction, with the CO in the field accepting the final length, size, and alignment. For bidding purposes, bid on the quantities listed in the bid schedule.
