QUESTION #1: What are the Liquidated Damages for the above referenced project?
RESPONSE: See FP-14 Subsection 108.04.
08/23/2016
QUESTION #2: Is there a designated place or an area that the trees, slash, stumps, clearing and grubbing material can be hauled to in the park? How far and where is this area located? If no area exists in the park, can this material be chipped or masticated and spread onsite anywhere?
RESPONSE: Suitable clearing and grubbing debris may be chipped to emulate the existing forest duff material, stockpiled onsite, and incorporated with conserved topsoil, to be placed on disturbed areas in accordance with Section 624. These requirements will be included in Subsection 203.05(a) in Amendment 0002.
QUESTION #3: Where is the water source located in the park? What is the draft fee?
RESPONSE: This is no available water source in the park. See Subsection 105.02(a) in Amendment 0002.
QUESTION #4: Do rip rap check dams need to be removed at the end of the project?
RESPONSE: Yes. See FP-14 Subsection 157.15.
QUESTION #5: Is there any further detail as to which check dams are used on the project or which device is preferred? (Rip rap, fiber roll, gravel bag)
RESPONSE: As per plan sheet E7, note 1, check dams of fiber rolls, riprap, or gravel bags may be used as approved by the CO, to meet the functional requirements of the check dam device.
QUESTION #6: According to the spec. Section 604.03 Inlets need to be Colored. Is it the intent for Precast items to be colored as well?
RESPONSE: As per Subsection 601.04 from Amendment 0002, for precast inlets and drainage structures, uncolored split bottoms are acceptable if integrally colored precast or cast-in place tops are provided to a minimum depth of 1 foot below backfill elevation.
QUESTION #7: Please refer to the Typical Section of the MSE Wall on Sheet G5. It appears to show the foundation excavation and backfill extending 5’ (Typ.) back of the excavation limits (additional cut). Is it the intent for the foundation to be at least 6’ (5’ typ. plus 12” min) back of the base reinforcement? If so, is native material acceptable backfill over the top of that last 5’ wide section of the foundation?
RESPONSE: The additional foundation excavation width of 5-ft is correctly shown on the plans. The total base foundation width is (4-ft of Bench Width) + (8-ft [min] + 12-inches of reinforcement support) + (5-ft of additional base foundation).
As per Subsection 208.08(f) from Amendment 0002 the excavated area below the bottom of the wall is to be backfilled with suitable excavated native material. See FP-14 Section 101 for definition of Suitable Material.

QUESTION #8: With regard to the MSE Wall, is it acceptable to use mortar on the class B masonry rock face finish?
RESPONSE: Yes. As per FP-14 Subsection 620.01(c) Class B masonry is laid in mortar.
QUESTION #9: Is it also acceptable on the MSE wall to leave # 9 wire loops or anchor system for us to attach #9 wire in wall as wall is built. Is it acceptable to shot-crete this?
RESPONSE: The MSE wall is to be Contractor designed. These requirements will be added to Subsection
255.03 in Amendment 0002. The design needs to meet all of the design criteria provided in the contract documents. The stone masonry anchoring system is included in the Contractor MSE wall design.
QUESTION #10: MSE wall: Please clarify that these rocks are min. 12" thick 2,5 ft. -.5 ft. sq. face
RESPONSE: The MSE wall is a contractor designed wall. The sample view in the project plans provides the maximum and minimum surface dimensions (2.5-ft maximum and 0.5-ft minimum) of the rock shapes, but does not specify a thickness of the surfacing materials. This is part of the Contractor design.
See Sections 255 and 257.
QUESTION #11: The bid Quantity for item 20402-0000 Subexcavation is 6,330 cy (as shown on Sheet B1) and the Subexcavation Tabulation shows 2,783 cy (as shown on Sheet B11). Please clarify the location of the discrepancy.
RESPONSE: The additional subexcavation quantity is shown on the Wawona Road Embankment Repair Summary on Sheet D8. The total quantity appears to be correct. The Wawona Road Embankment Repair Summary will be moved from Sheet D8 to sheet B11 as a part of Amendment 0002.
