Task 2 Introduction of Cooperative Vehicle-Highway Systems p g y y to Improve Speed Harmonization

Period of Performance: 25 months

Funding : 5,400 to 5,500 hours + $160,000 equipment and materials Scope : Develop and demonstrate the use of connected vehicle technologies, in variable speed limits and CACC to reduce congestion

Steps are as follo sSteps are as follows:

Support site selection in partnership with nearby agency, (initiated by COR only)

Develop algorithm and simulate cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) and variable speed limits to produce speed advisory

Determine requirements and equip the infrastructure

Design and equip instrumented vehicles with CACC technologies Design and equip instrumented vehicles with CACC technologies

Deploy and test at TFHRC then in the “Living Laboratory”

Conduct experiment and evaluation.Conduct experiment and evaluation.

Task 3 V hi l I t t tiVehicle Instrumentation

Period of Performance: 8 months

Funding : 400 to 500 hours +$199,000 equipment and materials

Scope: This project will acquire and support the instrumentation of three new vehicles.

Provide throttle and braking controlsProvide throttle and braking controls

Access key vehicle data

Incorporate different positioning systemsIncorporate different positioning systems

Provide communications with the on-board vehicle systems and other vehicles and infrastructure, for data acquisition & computingq p g

Task 4 Virtual Data Access

Period of Performance: 27 months

Funding : 3750 to 3850 hours + $30,000 other costs.

Scope :

Assess current trends and gaps with respect to virtual access to and h i f t t ti d tsharing of transportation data Develop a framework for combining transportation data from multiple sources Apply this data sharing framework in a “proof-of-concept” test for a specific application area using real-world data.
