5. Work restrictions.
6. Specification and drawing conventions.
7. Miscellaneous provisions.
1.3 PROJECT INFORMATION
A. Project Identification: Replace Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACP)
1. Facility: Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC).
2. Location: 3101 Auburn Way S, Auburn, WA 98092.
B. Owner: U. S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
1. Owner’s Representative: Contracting Officer.
1.4 WORK COVERED BY CONTRACT DOCUMENTS
A. The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following:
1. Upgrade Siemens MXL fire alarm system to Siemens Fire Finder XLS system.
a. Remove all existing internal MXL electronic cards from main FACP panel, Annunciator panel and other auxiliary panels.
i. The Main PACP located at room 1052 North Control Wing First Floor.
ii. Auxiliary panel 1 located at room 1052, next to the main FACP North
Control wing First Floor (on the left side)
SUMMARY 011000 - 2
iii. Auxiliary panel 2 located at B15 OSW basement.
iv. Auxiliary panel 3 located at B120 Control Wing basement.
v. Auxiliary panel 4 located at Automation Wing Attic.
b. Remove existing monitoring PC Network Command Center (NCC) in room B117.
The existing NCC is old system. It is time to convert the NCC control to Danger Management System (DMS). NCC and DMS are both currently supported by Siemens. However, the platform is all moving to the DMS and the DMS is where the research and development funds are going and zero funding is going to the NCC. The DMS is direct replacement for the NCC and the NCC is at it is end of life. DMS provides a central graphical command and monitoring center for networked FireFinder XLS panels. The DMS allows for individual point monitoring and control of networked FireFinder XLS panel. Install a new DMS model number DMS-W717-22L-C.
c. Reuse the entire next generation field devices.
d. Reuse existing conductors, cables, and pathways to existing fire alarm devices.
e. The features so useful on the NCC will be available on the DMS. Existing smoke detectors, horns, strobes and pull stations are not to be removed. New XLS feature in software/hardware will override all existing FACP devices. The new XLS features work fine with the existing FACP devices. Some features are different but they are equivalent products.
f. Install new XLS electronic cards back into the main FACP panel, Annunciator panel and other auxiliary panels 1, 2, 3 & 4.
g. Install a new DMS system.
h. Maintain communication between the fire alarm system and the building automation system.
i. The kitchen fire suppression system is not included in the project scope.
1.5 ACCESS TO SITE
