Question and Answers
DTFAAC-17-R-00011
Responses are is in RED.
1. The documents for both sites have a removal of 3-inches of existing asphalt surface – but the replacement consists of 21-inches of new material (8-inch of new Subgrade, 8-inch of sub-base, 3 -inch of surface course and 2-inch of wear course). This will result in the new asphalt surfaces to be at a higher elevation than the existing surface. Is that what the intent is or the finished elevations of new asphalt to match existing elevations? Which will require removal of 21-inches.
Reference note 4, drawing C002 that the Contractor is to use the existing elevations at the entrance and gate for the new crown of the new asphalt drive. That is, he is excavate as required to match the existing drive.
2. Are there any drawings for Canton, MI project? – Yes there are drawings
The Drawings are now included in Amendment A001 of the subject announcement.
3. What are the lengths of the corrugated metal pipes for each location? 26 foot, see drawing GL-D-5014 Do they all get an end section and/or stones at the ends.
Per section I of the SOW, the Contractor is to verify the existing conditions, which include the presence and length of the existing corrugated culverts. Reference drawing C001, note 4 to extend the new pipes 2 past the new pavement. End sections or stones are not required due to size of the culvert.
4. What are the specifications for the new 8-inch subgrade – see drawing C90-366-C002
Reference Section 2 of the Statement of work for new site work requirements. Also note paragraph 2B.2 reference to the latest edition of the particular state highway constriction specs additional road requirements.
5. There is a requirement to have a 24 hour access for FAA personnel at both locations – can a temporary drive adjacent to existing drive be possible?
To avoid any real estate issues, I would recommend the Contractor submit a drawing/sketch of any temporary road required so Real Estate and the SSC can review (if leased).
