About this file
This is a technical drawings and details document prepared by Golf Design Unlimited, LLC for the City of Bridgeport, Connecticut's Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course (FWGC) Black Course Cart Path Extensions project. The document provides design specifications and construction details for eight-foot-wide asphalt cart path extensions across six golf holes (#4, 10, 12, 15, 16, and 18). The cart path extensions total approximately 4,630 linear feet across the six holes, with individual segments measuring 920 linear feet (Hole #4), 622 linear feet (Hole #10), 1,018 linear feet (Hole #12), 912 linear feet (Hole #15), 795 linear feet combined (Hole #16), and 793 linear feet (Hole #18). The document includes cart path plans for each hole drawn to a scale of 1" = 200', revised on March 13, 2025, and dated March 21, 2025. Electronic bid submissions are due by 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, through the City's OpenGov e-Procurement Portal. A mandatory site visit is scheduled for May 2, 2025, at 9:00 am, and the written question deadline is 4:00 pm on Thursday, May 22, 2025. The estimated construction period extends from July 7, 2025, to October 31, 2025, with a project duration of 35 days after the Notice to Proceed.
The technical specifications detail construction requirements including complete removal of existing materials, installation of a four-inch compacted quarry process or clean gravel base, a 2.5-inch compacted asphalt surface, and topsoil and seeding up to five feet on each side of the paths. Silt fence sediment control details are included with specifications for pre-manufactured fence fabric stapled to wooden posts spaced 6 to 10 feet on center. The estimated project budget is approximately $300,000 with a total estimated quantity of 40,480 square feet of new asphalt cart path. Contractors must have a minimum of five years of golf course cart path installation experience and be licensed in Connecticut. A 10 percent bid bond or certified check is required for bids exceeding $50,000, and prevailing wage requirements apply to bids exceeding $100,000. Contractors must provide a maintenance bond equal to 25 percent of the final contract amount, guaranteeing the work for two years from final acceptance. Payment will be made in full after project completion and signed-off invoices, with a 45-calendar-day payment timeline after invoice approval. The project encourages participation from Minority Business Enterprises, Women Business Enterprises, and City-based businesses.
