About this file
This document is a comprehensive specification file for a roof replacement project at Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia, PA. The project involves cyclic replacement of the Liberty Bell Center's roof, encompassing removal of the existing ballasted EPDM roof system and installation of a new 80 mil PVC/KEE roofing membrane with multiple insulation layers. Key technical components include removing approximately 1,250 square feet of existing roofing down to the concrete deck, installing a new SBS modified bitumen vapor retarder, adding multiple layers of polyisocyanurate insulation (totaling 4.6 inches with tapered sections), and implementing new perimeter edge metal and roof drains.
The project specifications detail precise installation requirements for insulation, membrane, and accessory components, with specific attention to attachment methods, slope requirements, and manufacturer warranty provisions. The contract includes provisions for potential additional work through unit pricing for wood blocking replacement (16 linear feet included in base bid), and requires a 25-year no-dollar-limit manufacturer warranty. The work is to be performed with minimal disruption to the occupied Liberty Bell Center, with careful coordination of construction activities and maintaining building security throughout the renovation process.
