About this file

This Addendum No. 1 establishes building automation system compatibility requirements for Mississippi University for Women's HVAC rooftop unit replacement project at Whitfield Hall. The addendum specifies that all new and existing HVAC equipment, including controls, sensors, actuators, variable frequency drives, thermostats, and communication interfaces, must be capable of integration with the University's existing Siemens Desigo Building Automation System (BAS). The contractor is responsible for verifying compatibility of all equipment prior to installation and identifying any required modifications, interface modules, gateways, controllers, sensors, relays, wiring, or programming necessary to achieve complete system integration. Proprietary equipment or control systems that prevent full integration with Siemens Desigo are prohibited unless specifically approved in writing by the University before installation. The project scope includes two new Trane Foundation 25-ton rooftop units with mandatory integration into the building automation system, with a pre-bid conference scheduled for March 5, 2026, and sealed bids due October 8, 2026.

The completed HVAC system must provide remote monitoring and control of operating status, occupied/unoccupied modes, temperature setpoints, space and discharge temperatures, equipment alarms, fan status, heating and cooling operation, and other points required for proper system operation and monitoring. The contractor must coordinate with the University and its designated Siemens controls representative prior to ordering equipment to confirm compatibility and required integration points. Equipment will not be considered complete and acceptable until all required HVAC equipment has been successfully integrated into the Siemens Desigo system with proper communication, monitoring, control, and alarm functions demonstrated. This integration requirement applies to both new equipment installed under the project and any existing HVAC equipment affected by the work. Contract documents are available through Mississippi University for Women's Resources Management office at 1100 College Street, W-1628, Columbus, 39701, by phone at 662-329-7126, or via email at purchase@muw.edu.

ADDENDUM No. 1 Siemens Desigo Building Automation System Compatibility This addendum establishes requirements for all heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment associated with this project.

Building Automation System Requirement All new and existing HVAC equipment included within the scope of this project shall be capable of being integrated with and controlled and/or monitored through the University's existing Siemens Desigo Building Automation System (BAS).

The Contractor shall be responsible for verifying that all equipment, controls, controllers, sensors, actuators, variable frequency drives (VFDs), thermostats, control panels, communication interfaces, and other associated components are compatible with the Siemens Desigo platform.

Where existing equipment is to remain in service, the Contractor shall verify its ability to interface with Siemens Desigo. Any required control modifications, interface modules, gateways, controllers, sensors, relays, wiring, programming, or other components necessary to provide complete integration shall be identified and included as part of the project.

All new HVAC equipment shall be furnished with controls and communication capabilities necessary for integration into Siemens Desigo. Proprietary equipment or control systems that prevent full integration with the University's Siemens Desigo system shall not be accepted unless specifically approved in writing by the University prior to installation.

The completed system shall provide, as applicable to the equipment, remote monitoring and control of operating status, occupied/unoccupied modes, temperature setpoints, space and/or discharge temperatures, equipment alarms, fan status, heating and cooling operation, and other points required for proper operation and monitoring.

The Contractor shall coordinate with the University and its designated Siemens controls representative prior to ordering equipment to confirm compatibility and required points of integration. Equipment shall not be considered complete and acceptable until required HVAC equipment has been successfully integrated into the Siemens Desigo system and proper communication, monitoring, control, and alarm functions have been demonstrated.

This requirement applies to both new equipment installed under this project and existing HVAC equipment affected by the work.
