AMENDMENT NUMBER THREE

Atlanta Job Corps Center Relocation (Document Revisions) Atlanta, GA

December 27, 2016 This addendum modifies the 100% Final Contract Document dated October 24, 2016, and upon execution of the Agreement, becomes part of the Contract Documents and modifies the original Bidding Documents as noted below. Acknowledge receipt of this Addendum in the space provided on the Bid Form. Failure to do so may subject the Bidder to disqualification.

This addendum consists of 1 page and 1 attached new specification section.

PART 1 - GENERAL CHANGES

1.01 When a change is shown on a drawing, in a specification section or in a Document, keep that change consistent through all drawings, specifications and documents.

PART 2 - CHANGES TO THE FORMS AND CONDITIONS (NOT USED)

PART 3 - CHANGES TO THE SPECIFICATIONS

3.01 Add the attached Specification Section 08 62 00 PLASTIC GLAZED UNIT SKYLIGHTS dated December 27, 2016, Amendment 03.

3.02 Reference Specification Section 09 96 23 ANTI-GRAFFITI COATINGS:

A.

Add the following general note: Apply Anti-Graffiti Coatings to all exterior ground face concrete masonry units (cmu).

3.03 Reference Specification Section 23 21 13 Hydronic Piping:

A.

Add the following paragraph 2.2.1 for Below Ground Piping to read as follows:

“2.2.1

BELOW GROUND PIPING

A.

General: Furnish a complete system of factory fabricated piping and fittings for the specified service.

B.

Manufacturers: Basis of design is Thermacor. Other acceptable manufacturers include Insul-Tek, Perma-Pipe and Rovanco.

C.

Service & Piping Materials:

1.

Below Grade Chilled Water Piping – Ductile Iron.

2.

Below Grade Heating Water Piping – Schedule 40 Steel.

D.

Insulation: Polyurethane foam injected into the annular space between carrier pipe and jacket and bonded to both. Insulation shall be rigid, closed cell polyurethane with 2.0 to 3.0 pounds per cubic foot density and coefficient of thermal conductivity (K-Factor) not to exceed 0.16 and shall conform to ASTM C-591.

E.

Jacketing: High density polyethylene (HDPE). No tape jacket allowed. The inner surface of the HDPE jacket shall be oxidized to ensure a secure bond between the jacket and foam insulation.

F.

End Seals: Each length of pre-insulated pipe will be fitted with a watertight mastic end seal at jacket and pipe surfaces.”

SECTION 08 62 00

PLASTIC GLAZED UNIT SKYLIGHTS

PART 1-GENERAL

1.1 SUMMARY

A. This section includes the following:

1. Curb-mounted unit skylights, single dome impact modified plastic.

B. Related Sections: The following sections contain requirements that relate to this section:

1. Division Six Section “Rough Carpentry” for wood curbs and nailers.

2. Division Seven Section “Roof Accessories” for curbs, roof hatches, and smoke vents.

3. Division Seven Section “Flashing and Sheet Metal” for metal flashing for skylights.

C.

Refer to roofing system sections for roofing accessories to be built into the roofing system to accommodate work of this section.

1.2 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

A. General: Provide unit skylights capable of withstanding loads as prescribed by the prevailing code for the project location.

B. Uniform design load capacity to meet or exceed 40 PSF positive and 40 PSF negative load.

C. Unit skylights must be tested in accordance with AAMA\WDMA\CSA\101\I.S.2\A440 as required by Section 2405.5 of the International Building Code.

D. Unit skylights must be tested and certified by NFRC for thermal performance. Products must be listed on the NFRC Certified Products directory.

E. System Performance Requirements:

1. U-factor shall be .25 BTU/HR-ft2-F maximum per NFRC 100

2. SHGC shall be .34 maximum per NFRC 200

3. Condensation Resistance Factor not less than 60 per NFRC 500

4. Visible Light Transmission not less than 43%

F. Units shall be impact tested to 775 ft-lbs to comply with the intent of OSHA fall protection regulation 29 CFR 1910.23 (e)(8).

1.3 SUBMITTALS

A. Product Data Sheet: For each type of skylight specified, include details of construction and installation, relative to applicable roofing materials.

B. Samples for Selection: Manufacturer’s color charts showing a full range of colors available for each type of skylight glazing and aluminum finish.

1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Fire-Test-Response Characteristics:

1. Provide thermoformed domes fabricated from sheets identical to those tested for the following fire-test-response characteristics, per ASTM test method indicated below, by UL or other testing and inspecting agencies acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction. Identify plastic sheets with appropriate markings of applicable testing and inspecting organization.

a. Self-Ignition Temperature: 651 deg F (343 deg C) or greater when tested per ASTM D 1929 on plastic sheets in the thickness intended for use.

b. Smoke density of 75 or less when tested per ASTM D 2843 on plastic sheets in the thickness intended for use.

c. Relative- Burning Characteristics: As follows, when tested per ASTM D 635:

d. Acrylic: Burning extent of 2.5 inches (64mm) per minute or less when tested on plastic glazing indicated below with a nominal thickness of 0.060 inch (1.5 mm) or the thickness intended for use.

2. Provide flat cellular polycarbonate panel fabricated from an approved cellular polycarbonate glazing (light transmitting) material identical to that tested with a CC1 fire rating classification per ASTM D-635 and filled with Lumira™ Aerogel insulation in the thickness (10mm) intended for use.

a. Self-Ignition Temperature: 1110º F (599 deg. C) or greater when tested per ASTM 1929 on multi-wall cellular panel filled with Lumira™ aerogel Insulation in the thickness (10mm) intended for use.

1.5 WARRANTY

A. General: Warranties specified in this section shall not deprive the Owner of other rights the Owner may have under other provisions of the Contract Documents and shall be in addition to and run concurrent with other warranties made by the Contractor under requirements of the Contract Documents.

B. Skylight Warranty: Provide written warranty signed by manufacturer agreeing to repair or replace work that exhibits defects in materials or workmanship and guaranteeing weather-tight and leak-free performance. “Defects” is defined as uncontrolled leakage of water and abnormal aging or deterioration.

1. Warranty Period: 2 years from date of Substantial Completion.

C. Plastic Warranty: Provide written warranty signed by manufacturer agreeing to repair or replace work that has or develops defects in the plastic. “Defects” is defined as abnormal aging or deterioration.

1. Warranty Period: 2 years from date of Substantial Completion against yellowing or breakage.

D. Finish Warranty: Provide written warranty signed by manufacturer agreeing to repair or replace work with finish defects. “Defects” is defined as peeling, chipping, chalking, fading, abnormal aging or deterioration, and failure to perform as required.

1. Warranty Period for Anodized Finish: 1 year from date of Substantial Completion.

PART 2- PRODUCTS

2.1 PLASTIC GLAZED SKYLIGHT UNITS

A. Manufacturer and Type: Wasco Products, Inc. “EcoSky model E3CS”, Size No. 5252 nominally 4’-0” x 4’-0” with 25% rise at dome. Factory-assembled, deck-mounted unit consisting of impact modified plastic glazing, gasketing, inner frame that is incorporated into the curb with self-contained flashing flange.

1. Curb Frame: Bright white high performance PVC with Bronze cap stock and minimum effective thickness of 0.060 inch (1.5mm). Provide integral condensation gutter system with corners fully welded for waterproof quality.

2. Retainer Frame: Extruded aluminum alloy 6063-T5 (min). ASTM B 221 (ASTM B 221 M) with minimum effective thickness of 0.60 inch (1.5 mm).

3. Exterior Glazing: Thermoformed impact glazing, translucent IR reflecting Acrylite® Satin Sky dome.

4. Interior Glazing: 10mm multi-wall flat cellular polycarbonate panel filled with Lumira™ aerogel insulating material.

5. Thermal Break: Fabricate skylight units with thermal chambered PVC.

6. Gaskets: Structural glazing tape to form adhesive bond between PVC curb and inner dome, between inner and outer dome, and between outer dome and extruded aluminum retainer. Gaskets form an air and water impenetrable barrier between adjacent surfaces.

7. Fasteners: Same metal as metals being fastened or nonmagnetic stainless steel or other non-corrosive metal as recommended by manufacturer.

B. Other Acceptable Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with all requirements of this specification, provide named products and systems or comparable products and systems by one of the following manufacturers:

1. American Skylights, Inc.

2. Acralight Solar, LLC.

2.2 COMPONENT AND ACCESSORY MATERIALS

A. General: Factory-assembled, deck-mounted unit consisting of impact modified plastic glazing, gasketing, inner frame that is incorporated into the curb with self-contained flashing flange.

B. Products: Provide EcoSky model E3CS meeting the requirements of this section. Curb: Field built Curbs or Pre-Fabricated Curbs (By Others) minimum 1 ½” wide.

1.

Height: Minimum 4" above finished roofing.

C. Condensation Control: Fabricate skylight units with integral internal gutters and weeps to collect and dispose of condensation.

D. Thermal Break: Fabricate skylight units with thermal chambered PVC.

E. Shape and Size: As indicated by model number.

F. Impact Modified Outer Glazing: Thermoformed Acrylite® Satin Sky with 25% rise.

G. Inner Glazing: 10mm Multi-wall flat cellular polycarbonate panel filled with Lumira™ aerogel insulation material.

2.3 FABRICATION

A. Framing Components:

1. Factory fit and assemble components.

2.

Fabricate components that, when assembled, will have accurately fitted joints with ends coped or mitered to produce hairline joints free of burrs and distortion.

3. Fabricate components to drain water passing joints and to drain condensation and moisture occurring or migrating within skylight system to the exterior.

4. Fabricate components to accommodate expansion, contraction, and field adjustment, and to provide for minimum clearance and shimming at skylight perimeter.

5. Fabricate components to ensure that glazing is thermally and physically isolated from framing members.

6. Form shapes with sharp profiles, straight and free of defects or deformations, before finishing.

7. Fit and secure joints in aluminum by heliarc welding.

2.4 ALUMINUM FINISHES FOR GLAZING RETAINER

A. General: Comply with NAAMM “Metal Finishes Manual” recommendations for application and designations of finishes.

B. Finish designations prefixed by AA conform to the system for designations of aluminum finishes established by the Aluminum Association.

1. Mill Finish: Manufacturer’s standard mill finish.

PART 3- EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Examine substrates and conditions, with installer present, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting skylight performance.

Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

3.2 INSTALLATION

A. General: Comply with manufacturer’s written instructions for protecting, handling, and installing skylight components.

B. Coordinate with installation of roof deck and other substrates to receive skylight units.

C. Coordinate with installation of vapor barriers, roof insulation, roofing, and flashing as required to assure that each element of the work performs properly and that combined elements are waterproof and weather tight. Anchor units securely to supporting structural substrates, adequate to withstand lateral and thermal stresses as well as inward and outward loading pressures.

D. Counter Flashing: Where counter flashing is required as a component of the skylight, install to provide an adequate waterproof overlap with roofing or roof flashing (as counter flashing). Seal with thick bead of mastic sealant, except where overlap is indicated to be left open for ventilation.

3.3 CLEANING AND PROTECTION

A. Clean exposed metal and plastic surfaces according to manufacturer’s instructions. Touch up damaged metal coatings.

B. Clean plastic skylight units, inside and out, not more than 5 days prior to date of substantial completion.
