About this file
This document outlines the in-service decision process for the Dedicated Network Telecommunications System (DNTS) contract with the Federal Aviation Administration. The process involves multiple activities that must be completed to verify DNTS operational readiness, including factory acceptance testing, functional and physical configuration audits, independent testing at the FAA's William J. Hughes Technical Center, solution validation, safety and security documentation development, training development, logistics approval, operational testing at a keysite, and resolving any remaining in-service review checklist items before final in-service decision and initial operating capability declaration. The contractor assists with many of these activities under the requirements of the DNTS contract.

In-Service Decision Process
In-Service Decision is the event at which the FAA decision authority determines whether DNTS is ready for operational use and if approved, will allow the Airport Cable Loop Program Office (ACLPO) to deploy the solution at FAA-supported airports.
The ACLPO must complete multiple In-Service Decision checklist tasks to verify operational readiness, many of which require Contractor technical expertise. Under the DNTS contract, the Contractor assists the FAA to demonstrate the technology works in accordance with the DNTS Product Description and to provide life cycle support artifacts and capabilities.
This attachment illustrates the process, activities, events, and milestones required by FAA In-Service
Decision authorities, which align to DNTS contract requirements. More information about FAA’s In-
Service Decision and Operationational Readiness requirements can be found in AMS Policy 2.6 at the https://fast.faa.gov/ website.
