About this file

This document outlines the general requirements for a sand relocation project at various Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) state parks. The project involves the removal of sand that has blown into the Lake Michigan frontage of these parks, with the sand being relocated and graded along the beach. The work is to be performed annually around mid-March, with mandatory pre-bid meetings held at each park. Not all five listed parks will have projects available for bidding every season. The contractor will be responsible for locating underground utilities, transporting and spreading the sand, and removing and storing snow fencing. The state will provide specifications and schedule pre-bid meetings, as well as inspect the completed work. Liquidated damages of $100 per day will be assessed if the work is not completed by the required date prior to park/campground opening.

Pricing for this project will be lump sum, with the exact quantities of sand to be moved unknown. Purchase orders will be issued for individual projects. The state reserves the right to request certifications and proof that the contractor is adhering to MIOSHA standards. A pre-bid meeting is mandatory, and failure to attend will disqualify a contractor from bidding on the project.

Should the Contractor fail to complete the Work by that date, it is agreed that the sum of $100.00 will be deducted from the Base Proposal sum for each and every calendar day the Work is incomplete.
