FCC Pollock Pre-Bid Conference Questions Solicitation RFQP05191200018 – Fencing
1. Do sliding gates need to be constructed as depicted in the drawing (drawings A-2, A-3, A-4)?
Answer: No. They need to comply with specifications as outlined in section 2.4 CHAIN LINK GATES of the FBOP TECHNICAL DESIGN GUIDELINES, page 02820-4 to 02820-5.
2. Can aluminum tie wire be used?
Answer: No. As stated in section 2.5 MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS (A), tie wires shall be produced from a 9 gauge steel cores wire with aluminum coating…. Aluminum wire shall not be used.
3. Is the contractor responsible for locating utility lines?
Answer: Yes. As stated in Statement of Work, Part 3 – INSTALLATION.
4. Drawing part c/A-4 of A-4 depicts (gate assembly) 3” steel pipe for frame support and 2 ½” steel pipe for vertical and horizontal brace support. Are those pipe sizes required?
Answer: After further review of the guidelines, a smaller dimension pipe shall be used. A 2 3/8” pipe shall be used for frame support and 1 7/8” shall be used for vertical and horizontal brace support.
5. Drawings call for a 2” Schedule 40 Intermediate Rail (typ. Throughout Top and Bottom Rail). Is that required? (Reference A-3, B/A-1 and A-2 A/A-1) Answer: After further review of the guidelines, a small dimension pipe shall be used. A 1 5/8” Schedule 40 Intermediate (Horizontal) Rail shall be used.
At this time, no other technical requirements have changed. Due to the changes made, solicitation due date has been extended until July 10, 2012, no later than 3:00 p.m.
