About this file

This document is a Data Item Description (DID) for a Technical Data Package (TDP) with the identifier DI-SESS-80776B, approved on August 1, 2019. The DID provides comprehensive guidance for creating a technical description of an item that supports acquisition, production, inspection, engineering, and logistics processes. It supersedes the previous version DI-SESS-80776A and is aligned with MIL-STD-31000B standards.

The Technical Data Package must include one or more elements such as conceptual, developmental, product, and commercial engineering design data. Specific content requirements include detailed documentation of unique processes, performance ratings, dimensional and tolerance data, critical manufacturing processes, mechanical and electrical connections, material identification, inspection criteria, quality assurance provisions, software programming requirements, and special consideration items. The document outlines 17 key areas of technical documentation that must be addressed, ranging from physical characteristics and diagrams to vendor substantiation data and environmental testing requirements.
