DI-IPSC-81442A_Software_version.pdf

This document is a Data Item Description (DID) for a Software Version Description (SVD), numbered DI-IPSC-81442A, approved on 20000111 by the N/SPAWAR office. The DID provides standardized instructions for documenting and tracking software versions, specifically for identifying and describing a software version consisting of one or more Computer Software Configuration Items (CSCIs).

The document outlines comprehensive format and content requirements for preparing an SVD, including sections for system identification, document overview, referenced materials, version description, and notes. Key requirements include listing physical and software media, documenting changes installed, identifying adaptation data, providing installation instructions, and noting potential problems or known errors. The SVD is intended to be used when a developer needs to precisely identify and record the exact version of software to be delivered to a user, support site, or other recipient, and supersedes the previous version DI-IPSC-8142.
