About this file

This document outlines delivery requirements for food products to a federal facility operated by the Bureau of Prisons (BOP). All deliveries must be palletized unless prior warehouse staff approval is obtained. Temperature control requirements are strictly specified: non-frozen perishable foods must arrive between 34°F and 40°F, canned goods above 34°F and not frozen, and frozen foods at 0°F or below. Any product showing evidence of prior thawing will be rejected. Certified religious diet items, specifically those marked with the Kosher Symbol on individual packages, must comply with BOP National Menu Specifications or face refusal.

The receiving process includes comprehensive quality assurance measures. All items will undergo close inspection, and some items may require thawing and cooking to verify specifications compliance. Receipt of delivery may be conditional for up to three days to allow adequate examination and testing, with non-compliant items refused at that time. Vendors are responsible for picking up rejected items at their own expense within two days of notification. If products are not retrieved within two weeks, warehouse staff will dispose of them at vendor cost.
