About this file

This specification document details equipment requirements for a Water Quality Multiprobe Datalogger Instruments procurement for the State of Maine. The agency seeks two multiprobe/datalogger instruments capable of long-term, unattended water quality monitoring. Each datalogger must include comprehensive sensor packages for temperature (range -5°C to 50°C, accuracy ±0.1°C), optical dissolved oxygen (luminescent sensor, accuracy ±0.1 mg/l for 0-20 mg/l range, drift <1% per year), pH measurement with separate reference and reading electrodes (±0.2 pH units accuracy), four-electrode specific conductance (1% accuracy), and depth measurement 0-25 meters (0.2% accuracy range with barometric pressure capability). The instruments must support internal memory storage of at least two months of data at 15-minute intervals or up to 80 MB capacity, feature diagnostic LED indicators, include one 5-meter and one 30-meter underwater communication cable, possess sealed waterproof connections, and include RS-232 interfaces with calibration cups, weighted sensor guards, detachable cable-lock systems, and bail assemblies. Power requirements include USB connectivity with download cables and internal battery packs for unattended operation.

Each datalogger package includes an integrated handheld computer featuring a crushproof and waterproof case with unconditional lifetime guarantee, integrated GPS, Pocket PC platform, 1 GB data expansion capacity, color display with 80 MB or greater memory, data averaging capability, and a 3.5-inch transflective screen. All equipment must include appropriate software, rechargeable battery packs, and supporting accessories for complete field deployment and data collection functionality.

Text version

Two Water Quality Multiprobe/Datalogger Instruments. Each Datalogger needs to be capable of long term, unattended monitoring. Datalogger should be equipped with the following instrumentation/capabilities;

· All Dataloggers shall be supplied with download cables and must be able to connect via USB and be powered by USB.

· Ports capable of supporting the water quality sensors requested below and have the ability to add parameter sensors at a future time.

· Temperature Sensor - The Temperature Sensor shall have a range of -5 degrees C to 50 degrees C with an accuracy of ± 0.1 Degrees C.

· Optical Dissolved Oxygen Sensor - The Dissolved Oxygen Sensor shall be a luminescent oxygen sensor with an accuracy of ± 0.1 mg/l for readings from 0 – 20 mg/l. The optical dissolved oxygen sensor shall not require replaceable caps or membranes and have a drift of < than 1% per year.

· pH Sensor - The pH measurement system shall have separate reference and reading electrodes. The reference electrode shall be able to be refilled with pH electrolyte and have a replaceable flowing junction. The sensor shall be calibrated using two or three point calibration method with an accuracy of ± 0.2 pH units.

· Conductivity, 4 electrode - The Specific Conductance sensor shall be a graphite sensor with an accuracy of ± 1% of the reading.
