About this file
This document is an installation manual for the United States Marine Corps Bullet Resistant Cubicle System, specifically for three system configurations (L-Shape System 1, Long Straight System 2, and Short Straight System 3), dated February 2022. The manual provides comprehensive assembly instructions with detailed specifications for ballistic panels made from composite fiberglass material weighing up to 180 pounds each, requiring two-person lifts and appropriate personal protective equipment including safety glasses, long-sleeve shirts, steel-toe shoes, and pants. Gloves are mandatory when handling panels to prevent fiberglass fibers from entering the skin.
Each system configuration includes specific hardware requirements featuring connecting screws (3.00" and 2.50" lengths), binding posts (1.50" and 0.50" lengths), and plastic spacers (1.50"), along with aluminum frame components including feet, trim pieces in various lengths (36" to 100"), and ballistic panels in designated sizes. The L-Shape System 1 requires 24 connecting screws, 4 binding posts, and 4 ballistic panels; the Long Straight System 2 requires 10 connecting screws, 4 binding posts, and 3 ballistic panels; and the Short Straight System 3 requires 9 connecting screws, 4 binding posts, and 2 ballistic panels. All systems include tackable panels identified by blue fabric for optional installation. Assembly requires finger-tightening hardware during installation with final tool-tightening after complete assembly, and optional foot removal accommodates flush wall installations. Hook tape application on trim surfaces enables attachment of tackable panels to complete the installation.

3 Left or Right Hand Configuration
3.1 Defining the Configuration
Your new Bullet Resistant Cubicle System can be configured in many ways. The first step in determining the correct configuration is to choose a left or right handed return wall. The orientation of the wall is taken from the position of the user while at their desk.
3.1.1 Right-Hand Configuration
A right-hand configuration places the return wall on the right side of the user while they are seated at their desk. When viewing the system from the top, the return wall can also be seen on the right. Note that the foot used to support the system is always on the outside.
3.1.2 Left-Hand Configuration
A left-hand configuration places the return wall on the left side of the user while they are seated at their desk. When viewing the system from the top, the return wall can also be seen on the left. Note that the foot used to support the system is always on the outside.
4 Assembly
4.1 The Return Wall
The return wall is the first step in assembling System One. Depending on the desired Left or
Right-Hand configuration, follow one of the assembly processes below. It will be noticed that the method of determining orientation is the location of the top and bottom trim pieces. They can be used interchangeably top or bottom.
4.1.1 Right-Hand Return Wall
Start the assembly process from the bottom and work your way up. The diagram below shows the order in which components should be assembled together. All hardware should be finger tightened during installation. Once the system has been completely assembled, use tools for final tightening.
Step 1
Lay RH trim down on a flat surface.
Step 2
Insert the 36-1 ballistic panel on top of the bottom trim piece. Note the orientation of the panel to the inside of the trim and location of the holes in the panel. Hardware should be installed as component are assembled. A plastic spacer is used whenever there is no ballistic panel overlap.
Step 3
Attach the 48” trim to the corresponding side of the panel, inserting hardware in the open holes along the trim.
Step 4
Attach the LH 36” trim to the top of the panel, inserting hardware in the open holes along the trim.
4.1.2 Left-Hand Return Wall
Start the assembly process from the bottom and work your way up. The diagram below shows the order in which components should be assembled together. All hardware should be finger tightened during installation. Once the system has been completely assembled, use tools for final tightening.
Step 1
Lay LH trim down on a flat surface.
Insert the ballistic panel on top of the bottom trim piece. Note the orientation of the panel to the inside of the trim and location of the holes in the panel. Hardware should be installed as component are assembled. A plastic spacer is used whenever there is no ballistic panel overlap.

4.2 Right-Handed Flat Wall
The assembly process of the flat wall is similar to that of the return wall. Start from the bottom and work your way up. It will be noticed that the method of determining orientation of the flat wall is the location of the top and bottom trim pieces. They can be used interchangeably top or bottom. All hardware should be finger tightened during installation.
Once the system has been completely assembled, use tools for final tightening.
Step 1
Insert the middle 36-2 ballistic panel on top of the LH 100” trim piece. The panel should be against the back wall of the trim as shown.
Insert the hardware as shown below. Use the shorter 2.5” screws and longer 1.5” binding posts on all points of attachment for the foot.
Insert ballistic panels 34-1 and 34-2 in the orientation and position shown below. For safety reasons, one panel should be installed and then secured at a time. Use the shorter 2.5” screws and longer 1.5” binding post on all points of attachment for the foot. All other locations along the trim receive the longer 3.00” screw and 0.5” binding post.
Step 3
Attach the remaining trim pieces as shown below. Use panel spacers and hardware where required. At this point in the build, only 3.00” screws and 0.50” binding posts remain. Spacers are not used where panels overlap at the top of the system. You will notice extra holes along the top trim piece. This is to allow the system to be used in the alternate Left-Handed configuration.
4.3 Left Handed Flat Wall
The assembly process for a left-hand wall is the same as its right-handed counterpart (refer to section 4.2). The difference is the location of the top and bottom trim pieces. Start from the bottom and work your way up.
Use the shorter 2.5” screws and longer 1.5” binding post on all points of attachment for the foot.
This is to allow the system to be used in the alternate Right-Handed configuration.
4.4 Wall Connection
Connecting the return wall to the flat wall is the same process for both left and right-handed configurations. The pictures below are a representation of a right-handed configuration.
With the flat wall already in the desired installation location, it is time to bring the return wall to the proper connection point, which can be seen in the below figure.
The corner trims are the last components to go on. The larger angle goes to the outside while the small angle is on the inside. 3.00” screws and 0.50” binding posts are used to attached the
3.00” Screws go on the outside of the trim.
0.50” Binding posts go on the inside of the trim.
Spacers go where there exists a gap in the trim to the ballistic panel and locations can be seen below.

4.5 Tackable Panel Installation
Apply the hook tape along the blue highlighted areas below. The tape should be on far edge
(closest to the outside of the system) of the large angle trim. Do not cover hardware with hook tape. Cut the tape before the head of a screw or binding post and continue after.
Attach the panels in the locations shown below, making sure all edges are attached flush to the trim.
