About this file

This is a Salient Characteristics specification document for a federal contract opportunity (S26004) requiring the procurement of six compact multi-parameter water quality sondes. The sondes must be multi-parameter instruments with at least five ports for compatible user-replaceable sensors and a central wiper system. Each unit shall be powered exclusively by external 12 VDC power sources with no internal batteries and must be compatible with a comprehensive range of sensors including temperature, conductivity, pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, rhodamine, ORP, total algae, FDOM, total dissolved and suspended solids, ISE ammonium, ISE chloride, and UV nitrate, excluding depth sensors at time of purchase.

The specification establishes detailed technical and operational requirements for the sondes, including support for SDI-12 and RS-485 communications protocols with integrated wireless Bluetooth capability, internal data logging capacity of at least 1,000,000 readings, and a minimum sample rate of 4 Hz. Units must operate across a temperature range from -5 to 50 degrees Celsius, measure no larger than 3.0 inches in diameter and 17 inches in length, and weigh no more than 2.5 pounds. Additional requirements include auto-recognition of sensors in any port, wet-mateable connectors for corrosion protection, LED status indicators, a removable bail for suspension, and support for anti-fouling accessories. Deliverables include compatible software supporting live and recorded data viewing, sensor calibration, deployment management for unattended logging, and graphical data analysis interfaces, along with sensor guards, calibration/storage cups, maintenance kits containing port and connector plugs and spare o-rings, and tool kits.

Salient Characteristics S26004

MULTI-PARAMETER WATER QUALITY SONDE

Salient Characteristics

6 ea. Compact Multi-Parameter Water Quality Sondes:

1. Shall consist of a compact, multi-parameter, water quality sonde with at least 5 ports for compatible user-replaceable sensors and a central wiper system.

2. Shall be powered from an external 12 VDC power source only and require no internal batteries.

3. Shall be compatible with a range of sensors including, but not limited to, temperature, conductivity, pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, depth, rhodamine, ORP, total algae, FDOM, total dissolved and suspended solids, ISE ammonium, ISE chloride, and UV nitrate.

4. No depth sensor shall be included with unit at time of purchase.

5. Shall be capable of supporting SDI-12 and RS-485 communications.

6. Shall include wireless Bluetooth communications.

7. Shall have internal data logging with ability to store at least 1,000,000 readings.

8. Shall have a sample rate of at least 4 Hz.

9. Shall operate over a temperature range from at least -5 to 50o C.

10. Shall be no larger than 3.0 inches in diameter and 17 inches in length and weigh no more than 2.5 lbs.

11. Shall have the ability to auto-recognize any sensor in any port.

12. Shall include “wet-mateable” connectors allowing cable changes in wet conditions and providing protection against corrosion.

13. Shall include LED indicators for sonde status and Bluetooth status.

14. Shall include a removable bail for suspending the sonde.

15. Shall support anti-fouling accessories.

16. Shall include compatible software that allows users to manage, visualize, and organize field data collected from a sonde. In addition, the software shall support:

- viewing live and recorded data,

- sensor calibration,

- managing deployment of a sonde (setup sonde for unattended logging),

- a graphical user interface for data analysis.

17. Shall be provided with sensor guard, calibration/storage cup, maintenance kit (port and connector plugs, spare o-rings), and tool kit.
