Instructions to Contractors, for Submitting Proof of Insurance in accordance with Contract Requirements

1. “Insurance – Work on a Government Installation,” requires that the contractor furnish proof of insurance that contains an endorsement to the effect that any cancellation or any material change adversely affecting the Government’s interest shall not be effective: (1) for such period as the laws of the State in which this Contract is to be performed prescribe; or (2) until 30 days after the insurer or the Contractor gives written notice to the Contracting Officer, whichever period is longer.

2. Please have your insurance company provide an endorsement on a separate page stating that any cancellation or material change adversely affecting the Government’s interest shall not be effective until 30 days after the insurer or the Contractor gives written notice to the Contracting Officer.

The endorsement may appear on the certificate of insurance, instead of a separate page, only if these words are deleted: “This certificate is issued as a matter of information only and confers no rights upon the certificate holder. This certificate does not amend, extend or alter the coverage afforded by the policies below.”

3. Additionally, the standard disclaimer appearing in the cancellation section of the certificate is inconsistent with contract terms. To correspond with the requirements of the contract, in the cancellation block, the words “endeavor to” in the second line and “but failure to mail such notice shall impose no obligation or liability of any kind upon the company, its agents or representatives” must be deleted. Please ensure that your insurance company adjusts the cancellation section as stated above.

4. For Prime Contractors only: It is required for your insurance agent to include the Contract Number (example: W912DW-15-D- 1001, if this is a task order, please be sure to include the task order #
