TextField5: The short-term nature of our current purchasing cycle does not allow vendors to secure reliable supply chains or establish partnerships with BEP certified businesses. Vendors provide new pricing every 4 to 6 weeks and must respond quickly to shifting product availability. Without long-term volume commitments, it is not practical for the vendors to formalize subcontractor relationships or guarantee consistent opportunities for BEP participation. We will continue to pursue BEP inclusion as market conditions stabilize and we realize our competitive solicitation for a long-term contract.

TextField2: The Illinois Department of Corrections is procuring a competitively sourced, statewide commissary services contract(s) to its individuals in custody and Correctional Center Employees. IDOC has been diligently working with internal and external agency stakeholders to reformulate the competitive solicitation and will be posting that solicitation in the coming weeks. The Agency has put together a Commissary team to go over the specifications for each item. The team has met met five times and continues to work on the extensive items list. An extension is needed to allow time for a competitively procured contract to be executed. Failure to extend the emergency contract would result in the agency not having regular commissary stock available for its individuals in custody. This would be a violation of multiple Administrative Directives and a safety issue for staff and individuals in custody.
