About this file

This is a Cost Response Sheet for the Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) for a master wood sign post order across six regions in Maine. The document details an extensive order of wood sign posts in various dimensions, including 4"x4" and 6"x6" posts ranging from 14' to 20' in length, with a total order of 1,849 pieces distributed across six maintenance camps in Scarborough, Augusta, Dixfield, Bangor, Caribou, and a paint warehouse in Augusta. The order encompasses different post sizes and quantities for each regional maintenance location, indicating a statewide infrastructure or signage replacement initiative.

The specification details require the wood sign posts to be made from native Hemlock trees or Southern Yellow Pine, with strict quality standards including being free from structural defects, sawn true, planed on four sides, and treated to specific penetration and retention standards (ACQ treatment, .40 inch penetration, .60 PCF retention). Posts must be kiln or air-dried before treatment and incised on all four sides, with a tolerance of 25mm in length and 6mm in width or thickness. The posts are classified as Eastern Hemlock No. 2 or better, or Southern Yellow Pine No. 2 or better, ensuring high-quality materials for infrastructure or signage applications.
