About this file
This document is a presentation slide deck that outlines the IT modernization roadmap and transformation strategy for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Chief Information Officer Organization (CIOO). The presentation identifies key business and technical drivers behind the IT modernization efforts, including resilient and cost-effective IT, improved customer experience, and enhanced data management and analytics capabilities.
The transformation strategy is built around six key enablers: speed and scale, enterprise data management and analytics, innovation, digital empowerment and experience, proactive cybersecurity operations, and resilience. The presentation maps these enablers to the CIOO's strategic objectives, such as improving customer satisfaction, strengthening partnerships, and enhancing the use of technology. It also provides a high-level transformation blueprint, outlining the approaches the FDIC plans to take to address each of the enablers.

Modernization
• End-user capabilities do not adequately support a modern and hybrid FDIC workforce
• Delivering demands for IT services is not timely and sometimes misses customer expectations
• Siloed and disconnected data limits staff from performing data analytics
• Bankers and the public often need to go through multiple steps to access FDIC services
• Highly intuitive end-user services for a hybrid, diverse, and digitally-empowered workforce to deliver the mission
• IT solution/service delivery with speed and superior quality
• Connected, timely, reliable, and trusted data available for making informed business decisions

• Simplified, resilient, and amenable IT portfolio for secure and reliable operations
• Proactively addressed cybersecurity risks
• Integrated change management
• Complex IT portfolio with 300+ applications and a wide spectrum of technologies with many approaching end of life
• Reactive cybersecurity operations with long response times and expensive recovery
• Change management is distributed and expensive
• Delivering new and modernized services are time consuming and labor-intensive
• Limited support for innovation
• Delivery of new and modernized IT solutions in a cost-effective, timely, and less burdensome manner
