ORGANIZATIONAL INFORMATION
The Public Shooting Range at J.E. Roush Lake Fish and Wildlife Area is operated by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Fish and Wildlife and is open to the public.
Personnel time and materials to operate the range are covered under the Fish & Wildlife Area Shooting Range Grant. The work plan’s objective is to provide safe shooting range opportunities by providing maintained facilities, rules and supervision. All personnel assigned as range safety officers (RSOs) are required to pass the NRA Basic Range Safety Course.
Presently, the range offers 33 shooting stations – 10 at 50 yards, 5 at 100 yards, and 18 for pistol (7-25 yards). Trap/skeet machines also are available, a shotgun patterning area, as well as an archery range.
The rules and procedures in the following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) define the range’s intended use and provides for the safety of range users, range employees, and other property users.
