About this file
This document is a vendor questions and responses file related to a Request for Proposal (RFP) for check stock supplies. The file addresses detailed specifications for Item W-1003, which consists of manual checks that require specific printing and customization processes. The Control number is produced during manufacturing of the base stock, while the MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) number is custom printed on demand when an agency places an order for a box. The imprinting process applies the MICR Line, Address Line, Agency Name & Address, and Check Number to the W-1003 stock. Voided samples are available upon request and must be returned after vendor review.
The RFP specifies that the state will not accept chemical sensitivity paper with five-family options as an alternative to the standard chemical void specification. This limitation restricts the eligible paper sources for the check stock. The vendor questions and responses document serves to clarify the manufacturing and customization requirements for prospective bidders, ensuring all suppliers understand the exact specifications and printing processes required for this check stock procurement.

1) Please explain in more detail the process in which Item W-1003 (manual) checks gets printed and ordered. Specifically- -is the MICR # & Control number printed all at one time on the base stock- or is it custom and printed on demand as ordered by Locations?
Answer: The Control number is produced when manufactured.
The MICR is produced when an agency places an order for a box – it is custom printed on demand.
2) Please describe in detail “what” exactly is imprinted as ordered on to the W-1003 stock?
Answer: The following item(s) are imprinted on the W-1003 stock: MICR Line, Address Line, Agency Name & Address, and Check Number. Please refer to voided sample for further detail.
3) You mention a “chemical” void. This limits the paper source to 1 vendor where as a chemical stain (some up to 5 at one time) provides other paper source options. Would you except chemical sensitivity if it’s 5-family?
Answer: No.
4) Are there voided samples available for item W-1003?
Answer: Yes, please return the voided check when finished.
