About this file
This Statement of Work details a project for sanding and varnishing 30 chapel pews, consisting of 27 large pews measuring 16 ft 8 inches and 3 small pews measuring 9 ft 8.5 inches. The scope of work requires the contractor to provide labor, materials, and equipment to prepare the pews, including protecting the chapel floor, thoroughly cleaning pew surfaces, sanding to achieve a smooth finish, applying matching varnish with uniform coats, and cleaning up the work area upon project completion. The contractor must coordinate work with the Superintendent to minimize disruption to worship services, with the work necessitated by varnish wear from excessive cleaning and COVID prevention chemicals.
The document includes provisions for a warranty that the work will be performed professionally using quality materials, with finished pews expected to be free from defects for a reasonable period. Any changes to the scope of work, materials, or schedule must be submitted in writing and approved by both parties, with the understanding that approved change orders may impact the project schedule and budget. The primary objective is to restore the wooden pews to a high-quality, uniform finish while maintaining the chapel's operational requirements.
