About this file

This is a Change Order Notice issued by the Chief Procurement Office for General Services on behalf of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for contract P-94821, which involves construction services for the remediation of four dams within the Lake Wee-Ma-Tuk residential subdivision located northeast of Cuba, Illinois. The project is being funded through the Abandoned Mined Lands Reclamation Division (AMLRD), which receives federal dollars from the U.S. Department of the Interior, Office of Surface Mining for the elimination of mine-related public health and safety hazards. The change order addresses damage to the outlet structure at Long Lake caused by a significant precipitation event that occurred on August 14-15, 2026, resulting in approximately 11 inches of rainfall over a two-day period.

The change order requires repairs to the Long Lake outlet structure through the installation of larger riprap and mandates revisions to the McCamey Lake outlet structure to incorporate larger riprap as well. This change order increases the contract cost by more than $25,000 and is being posted on the Bulletin/BidBuy for the required 14-day notification period. The circumstances necessitating this change order—specifically the unforeseen significant precipitation event and resulting structural damage—are deemed not reasonably foreseeable at the time the original contract was signed, thereby justifying the modification to the contract scope and cost.
