About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for technical services to remove, investigate failure, and repair the Synchro-Self-Shifting (SSS) clutch on the United States Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) CALHOUN (WMSL-759), a RENK-CODAG gear plant model AS 2/250-AS 198F. The contractor must be a certified RENK distributor or service partner with access to proprietary technical data and software, with examples of previous RENK projects or credentials required to establish qualifications. Work is expected to be completed over no more than 10 days onboard USCGC CALHOUN at USCG Base Charleston, 1050 Register Street, North Charleston, SC 29405, with availability from October 12 to November 16, 2026. The contractor must be registered in the Joint Certification Program (JCP) through the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) and provide their JCP number to the point of contact.

The contractor's primary responsibilities include overseeing removal of the SSS clutch from the gas turbine shaft, providing a lifting tool for removal, overseeing shipment to an authorized repair facility, identifying root cause failure and repair extent (with a written report due within 7 days of arrival at the repair facility), reinstalling the clutch, performing a full hot lube oil flush of the Coordinated Controllable Gear (CCG) lube oil sump, and conducting operational testing in all modes including pierside and underway verification. All work must comply with SFLC Standard Spec 0000 and Coast Guard Technical Publication 9905. Coast Guard personnel will provide labor support for disassembly, removal, rigging, shipping/crating, and reinstallation, as well as operate all shipboard machinery. Deliverables include an SSS Clutch OEM inspection and repair report in digital format, demonstration of restored CCG full functionality in all modes, and a final trip report within 5 working days of completion. Security requirements include a valid REAL ID Act compliant government-issued ID or driver's license, with U.S. citizenship recommended. Technical points of contact are LTJG Justin Waters (Asset Manager) and LCDR Alexandria Bass (Engineer Officer).
