About this file
This is a Memorandum for Record documenting a requirement for diesel exhaust filtration equipment at Altus Air Force Base.

The specified product is the Ward Diesel NO SMOKE System, manufactured by Ward Diesel and protected under United States Patent Number 4,803,838. The system must be vehicle-mounted with direct source capture and no hanging hoses, operate automatically with hands-free functionality, and meet air quality standards set by OSHA, NIOSH, and NFPA. The filtration system uses ceramic diesel particulate filters to trap particulates and gases. The requirement is fleet-specific for two structural fire fighting trucks: Apparatus 1 (Engine 11), a 2009 Pierce Saber 2WD truck, and Apparatus 2 (Engine 12), a 2011 KME 4WD truck. The memorandum is dated 15 September 2026 and originates from the Department of the Air Force, 97th Air Mobility Wing (AETC), located in Oklahoma.
