a. First PCB: Digi International Inc. 16 port Edgeport (or equivalent) PCB.

i. Potential Models (or equivalent):

1. Edgeport/216 -2 USB; 16 RS-232 serial DB-9M. Part Number:

EP-USB-216. Viewable at https://www.digi.com/products/models/ep-usb-216.

2. Edgeport/416 -4 USB; 16 RS-232 serial DB-9M. Part Number:

EP-USB-216. Part number: 301-2000-10. Same as 301-1000-

10. Viewable at https://www.digi.com/products/models/301- 2000-10.

ii. PCB removed from Digi Edgeport (or equivalent) USB-to-serial converter (or equivalent) for integration solution.

iii. PC Port and Expansion Ports routed from Edgeport (or equivalent) PCB to respective rear panel connectors.

1. USB ports for PC Port and Expansion Port.

a. PC Port (USB-B) is left of the serial ports.

b. Expansion Port (USB-A) is beside PC port.

b. Second PCB: Conditioning PCB [May not be required if Edgeport (or equivalent) PCB (first PCB) can be modified to use +12 VDC excitation for serial driver hardware].

i. Connect to the existing 16 DB9M connectors on rear edge of Digi Edgeport (or equivalent) PCB.

ii. Conditioning of serial signaling for each serial port to accommodate higher voltage magnitude and amperage requirement.

iii. TX/RX status LED circuitry for each serial port.

iv. +5VDC and +12VDC power supply mounting and distribution

(physical mounting location is flexible).

c. Third PCB: Signaling Distribution PCB (Required).

i. Securely attached to rear panel.

ii. Provide 16 DB25M connectors for distribution to RCE CMS CDVs

iii. If second PCB is not implemented, TX/RX status LED circuitry for each serial port.

iv. Provide TX and RX status LEDs adjacent to each physical serial port.

1. Green for TX.

2. Blue for RX.

3. Equal intensity and easily viewable both from 45° above LEDs horizontal axis and horizontal axis.

4. Located to left of respective serial port when viewed from exterior of enclosure.

v. Serial ports’ layout must be in 4 columns with port numbering shown on enclosure for each serial port.

1. Viewed from outside of enclosure.

https://www.digi.com/products/models/ep-usb-216 https://www.digi.com/products/models/301-2000-10 https://www.digi.com/products/models/301-2000-10 Eskandary, Hamid (FAA) Printed Circuit Board (PCB) needs to be spelled out the first use.

a. Top-to-bottom (left to right columns): Column 1 (far left): Ports 1-4; Column 2: Ports 5-8; Column 3: Ports 9-12; Column 4 (far right): Ports 13-16.

d. PCBs connected together and securely attached to the enclosure.

e. Interface Cable:

i. 1-meter USB cable, USB-A to USB-B must be provided for external use. It should come with each Edgeport (or equivalent) product.

2. Edgeport (or equivalent):

a. Serial ports (Qty 16): DB-9M

b. Edgeport (or equivalent) RS-232 DB9 pinout:

http://ftp1.digi.com/support/documentation/loopback.txt

DB-9M Function Abbreviation Pin #1 Data Carrier Detect CD Pin #2 Receive Data RD or RX or RXD Pin #3 Transmitted Data TD or TX or TXD Pin #4 Data Terminal Ready DTR Pin #5 Signal Ground GND Pin #6 Data Set Ready DSR Pin #7 Request To Send RTS Pin #8 Clear To Send CTS

c. RS-232 Signaling:

i. Each respective Edgeport (or equivalent) serial port’s TX output signal is conditioned, buffered and then routed to the output PCB with no internal crosstalk.

1. Conditioned Edgeport (or equivalent) serial ports’ loaded TX Vo-minimum magnitude: 8.5VDC. Reference below requirement on the power supply for serial port TX amperage loading.

ii. Each external input RX is pass-through to the respective Edgeport (or equivalent) serial port with internal buffering and no crosstalk.

iii. Serial pins used by Control RCE (CDV): TX, RX, Gnd.

iv. 9600bps is required to be fully functional:

1. No unacceptable noise. Acceptable level is to be determined during 1st article testing and system response.

2. Symmetrical above and below signal ground.

3. No crosstalk between any serial port to any other serial port.

3. Power supply:

a. 110VAC with Power ON indicator and 6-foot AC power cable provided.

i. Power ON indicator must be located on the front panel.

ii. Power switch may be located on the front panel.

iii. Power cord connection must be located on rear panel (lower right).

b. Serial port(s):

i. TX max loading: 1k-ohm (this is for qty 8 CDV RXs connected in parallel).

1. 12VDC signaling magnitude => For each TX output, the current capacity requirement is 12mA minimum.

2. For 16 Edgeport (or equivalent) Ports => 16 x 12mA = 192mA minimum total current requirement for 16 total serial TX ports.

c. Status LEDs current (A): To be determined (Tbd).

d. Edgeport (or equivalent) current (A): Tbd.

e. Conditioning PCB (if present) current (A): Tbd.

f. Overall power supply current (A): Tbd

4. Enclosure recommendation:

a. Hammond Manufacturing model RMCS190313BK1, which may be viewed at https://www.hammfg.com/electronics/small-case/rack-mount/rmc.

5. Enclosure labeling.

a. Each serial port number (PORT 1 through PORT 16) must be above each serial port and totally visible with the DB-25 connectors attached.

b. There is two PC related interfaces located left of the serial ports. These ports are provided from the Edgeport (or equivalent) PCB. Labeling of these ports is:

i. PC PORT.

ii. EXPANSION PORT.

c. Device name and labeling will be determined after contract award.

6. Manufacturer (Contractor) testing:

a. Testing documentation with device serial number, plus tester and Quality Officer approval signatures must be provided with each packaged device.

b. All serial ports must be 100% tested using external loopback connectors and the Digi USB > Edgeport (or equivalent) Configuration Utility provided with the Edgeport (or equivalent) device. They must be tested at 2.4 kbps - 9.6 kbps minimally. Other baud rates may be tested.

c. All Status LEDs operation will be visually verified for both operation, equal intensity, and visibility when viewed both at 45° above horizontal and at horizontal.

d. Power ON indicator will be verified operational and stable (no flickering).

7. Mechanical:

a. Serial ports must withstand repeated connect/disconnect and physical connection with all 16 serial cables attached.
