About this file

The document is a Centrifugally Cast Concrete Pipe (CCCP) Specification for the City of Sandy Springs Mountain Creek Culvert Project, prepared by Pond & Company in March 2025. The specification outlines detailed requirements for installing a concrete pipe liner within existing storm sewer pipe structures, with the goal of creating a continuous structural concrete pipe inside the current infrastructure. The project involves installing CCCP liners that will provide an equal or greater opening area compared to the proposed plans, with measurement and payment calculated by linear foot of installed liner.

The specification includes comprehensive technical requirements for materials, including specific performance standards for compressive strength, flexural strength, tensile strength, bond strength, and abrasion resistance. The CCCP liner geopolymer mortar must be composed of at least 70% Pozzolanic material and verified through third-party X-ray Fluorescence testing. The contract includes provisions for installation conditions, such as temperature restrictions (between 45°F and 100°F), surface preparation, drainage maintenance, and use of a curing compound. Payment terms stipulate that no compensation will be provided for liners that cannot be successfully installed due to existing structure conditions, and the contractor is responsible for all preparatory and remediation work.

MARCH 2025 5

B. Verify items provided by other sections of work are properly sized and located, and that built-in items are in proper location. A temporary fence shall be installed as required to prevent encroachment of the public or livestock into the work area. Upon completion of the work, disturbed areas on private property shall be restored.

C. If conditions are the responsibility of another installer, notify Owners Representative of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

D. Any installation damage to location facilities will be repaired at Contractor's expense.

3.3 PRE-INSTALLATION

A. Before beginning the installation operation, three copies of a work plan that includes design calculations shall be submitted to the Engineer. The design calculations shall be signed and sealed by a professional engineer and shall certify the proposed CCCP liner thickness. The work plan shall also include:

1. The location and characteristics of cavities around the existing structure.

2. The anticipated coverage area and volume of invert repair mortar needed per existing structure.

If inspection reveals an obstruction that cannot be removed by conventional sewer cleaning equipment, the Contractor may make a point repair excavation to remove or repair the obstruction.

B. Areas of water seepage shall be sealed off by an approved method. Pools of water shall be removed; however, a dry surface is not required.

C. Prior to lining, all drop inlets or taps shall be temporarily plugged to prevent water

MARCH 2025 6

discharge onto newly placed mortar and to prevent mortar from entering the inlet or tap. Lines with active flow shall be temporarily plugged with a device that sufficiently prevents water from discharging onto the newly placed CCCP liner.

D. The interior surface of the existing structure shall be cleaned with a high-pressure water-blast sufficient to remove all laitance and loose material and flush debris from the structure. Upon final inspection the existing structure shall be free of sand, dirt and all other laitance that may impede the placement or adhesion of the CCCP liner to the structure.

3.5 INSTALLATION

A. The Contractor shall carry out operations in strict accordance with all applicable OSHA standards. Particular attention is drawn to those safety requirements involving entering confined spaces.

B. Drainage shall be maintained during the installation and during operations in a manner that does not damage adjacent property. The Contractor shall provide for the diversion of flow around the existing structure where the CCCP liner is being installed. Pump and bypass lines shall be of adequate capacity to handle the flow.
