About this file

This document is a Request for Information (RFI) from the Department of the Army's Portfolio Acquisition Executive (PAE) Fires seeking industry input on developing a Common Autonomous Multi-Domain Launcher (CAML) autonomous mobility platform. The Army is seeking U.S. companies with expertise in fabricating autonomous mobility platforms to provide capability statements for designing, building, testing, and delivering: 1) a CAML autonomous mobility platform, 2) a convoy leader vehicle capable of leading multiple autonomous mobility platforms, and 3) a vehicle autonomy command and control system, all within 12-18 months.

Key requirements include an uncrewed platform supporting three autonomous modes, capable of autonomously loading/unloading palletized payloads weighing 40,000-60,000 lbs without trailers, generating 120 kW of power, and maintaining dimensions under 12' height and 8' width. Interested companies must submit capability statements by December 15, 2025, at noon central time. The RFI also includes an optional field demonstration planned for 3Q-4Q FY26 and an industry day tentatively scheduled for January 21-22, 2026, to identify potential industry partners and communicate the Army's objectives for the CAML effort.

MEMORANDUM FOR INDUSTRY

SUBJECT: The Portfolio Acquisition Executive (PAE) Fires Common Autonomous Multi- Domain Launcher (CAML) Product Office Request for Information (RFI) – Autonomous Mobility Platform

THIS IS AN RFI NOTICE ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP).

NO SOLICITATION IS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

The PAE Fires CAML Product Office seeks information on potential sources that could provide the necessary technical skills, facilities, tooling, and personnel to develop and produce an autonomous vehicle compatible with palletized payloads and autonomous reloading and unloading capability, to serve as an autonomous mobility platform for the CAML, and to develop and produce an autonomous convoy leader vehicle.

Interested parties are asked to submit a capability statement to showcase their relevant experience and capabilities and help the Government shape future phases of the CAML acquisition strategy.

This RFI also asks industry to provide information regarding their ability to demonstrate a solution that satisfies the objectives presented herein at a field demonstration starting no earlier than 3QFY26 and no later than 4QFY26. The field demonstration will allow the Army to assess the maturity and capabilities of industry solutions. At a minimum, the field demonstration will demonstrate autonomous movement and autonomous reloading and unloading of weighted payloads. Commercial solutions and/or near commercial solutions, which may fully or partially meet this RFI, are encouraged. Parties may still submit a capability statement without supporting the field demonstration.

In addition, all submitting parties are requested to participate in an industry day for CAML, to be held in-person in January 2026 (tentatively planned for 21-22 JAN 2026, subject to change). The purpose of this industry day is to identify industry partners and capabilities to develop CAML, or components of CAML, and to communicate with industry the Army’s overarching intent for the CAML effort. More information regarding the upcoming industry day will be provided to interested parties.

1. Overview

a. The scope of this effort is to design, build, test and deliver: 1) a CAML autonomous mobility platform, 2) a convoy leader vehicle capable of leading more than two CAML autonomous mobility platforms, and 3) a vehicle autonomy command and control (C2) system, all within 12-18 months. Autonomous mobility platforms and convoy leader vehicle solutions are not required to be standard Army-inventory vehicles. Commercial solutions are highly encouraged.

2. Desired Characteristics

a. The uncrewed CAML autonomous mobility platform will support three autonomous modes: convoy mode (following a crewed CAML leader vehicle); an autonomous waypoint following mode; and an optionally piloted, manual mode.

b. CAML autonomous mobility platforms will be designed with a reload architecture that will autonomously load/unload payloads with no human intervention. Either a payload lift system or other novel reload architecture is acceptable; either solution must be organic to the vehicle: no additional support vehicles.

c. The CAML autonomous mobility platform will support a wide range of pallet weight distribution and dynamics to accommodate different types of palletized payloads, including payloads that elevate and significantly shift weight distribution.

d. The CAML autonomous mobility platform will be capable of supporting a minimum palletized payload of 40,000 lbs. and up to 60,000 lbs., with no trailers.

e. The CAML will not exceed a height of 12’ and a width of 8’ when being transported or when driving.

f. The CAML autonomous mobility platform will generate at least 120 kW at 600 VDC via an integrated mobile power system to supply power to the payload. The Government will not consider an off-board, external generator or towed-trailer solution.

g. The CAML autonomous mobility platform will provide vehicle stabilization.

3. Response Guidelines

a. Request interested parties respond to this RFI with a capability statement that describes the contractor’s ability to meet the requirements described in Paragraph 1 above. Submissions cannot exceed eight (8) pages, single-spaced, 12-point Arial or Times New Roman font with at least one-inch margins on 8 1/2” X 11” page size. A fold-out page counts as one page. Tables, drawings and header/footer information shall be 10-point Arial font or larger.

b. Complete and partial capabilities will be accepted.

c. The Government anticipates the receipt of UNCLASSIFIED capability statements in response to this RFI; however, if the offeror believes classified data is necessary to present a contractor's past performance and/or approach, then a written request must be presented to the Agreements Officer (AO) within 5 calendar days of receipt of this RFI. If approved by the AO, then a separate written classified annex may be included in the capability statement. This annex may not exceed the classification of collateral SECRET and must be delivered in accordance with the 32 CFR Part 2117, National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM). Capability statements shall not contain any information above SECRET or contain any restrictive markings (e.g., special access program (SAP), NATO, CNWDI, WNTEL, etc.). The CONFIDENTIAL marking is reserved as a security marking in accordance with AR 380-5 and the NISPOM and shall not be used as a marking for company proprietary information. The Government review team reserves the right to request further clarification to enhance our understanding of the respondent's submittal.

d. Interested sources responding to this RFI must be U.S. companies that have demonstrated expertise in fabrication of similar autonomous mobility platforms or enabling components with robust engineering, production, and quality processes.

e. Non-traditional participation is encouraged at both the prime and subcontractor level.
