Memorandum for Record - Item Description, C26-065 ET Metal Powder Sieving Vacuums

This is a Memorandum for Record issued by the Department of the Air Force, Headquarters Air Force Sustainment Center (AFMC) at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, dated 13 May 2026, documenting equipment specifications for procurement by the 76 CMXG (Component Maintenance Group).

The procurement requires three standalone powder reclamation systems designated as 9053 SSS Sonic Powder Conditioner units—one ATEX-compliant unit and two standard units. Each system must be designed to remove, collect, and sieve hazardous and reactive metal powders (nickel, cobalt chrome, and aluminum) from GE Concept Laser M2 Series 5 3D printers. The systems shall position adjacent to M2 glove boxes and interface with the printer's integrated vacuum port and overflow hopper outlet. Key functional requirements include automatic powder extraction and transfer to a buffer hopper with automatic dispensing onto sieves with controlled feed rates to prevent overload. Each system must include two vacuum hoses, a powder conveyor system suitable for handling specified alloys (equivalent to Piab FC.P100.TX2.32 for aluminum), capability to sieve under inert gas atmosphere, dual agitation methods (ultrasonic and vibratory), an ultrasonic knocker to prevent powder bridging, integrated scales for measuring coarse waste and fine reclaimed powder, and an automated powder feed mechanism (pinch valve). The aluminum processing system must be explosion-proof and ATEX Zone 20 compliant. All systems require CE or UL certification. Each system includes interchangeable sieve sets: two 75-micron sieves for nickel/aluminum and two 63-micron sieves for cobalt chrome. Manufacturer qualifications require a minimum of five years' experience producing comparable powder handling and sieving systems, and redacted customer references from purchases within the past twelve months.

1. The 76 CMXG is requesting utilization of funds for the purchase of ET Metal Powder Sieving

Vacuums.

2. The requested equipment item description / specifications are outlined below.

a. Item one - Metal Powder Sieving Vacuums

• (qty. 1) 9053 SSS Sonic Powder Conditioner; SPC – ATEX

• (qty. 2) 9053 SSS Sonic Powder Conditioner; SPC

Three (3) each standalone unit must be a powder reclamation system designed to remove, collect, and sieve hazardous and reactive metal powders (nickel, cobalt chrome, aluminum) from GE Concept Laser M2 Series 5 printers.

Each system shall be positioned adjacent to the M2 glove box and interface with the printer’s integrated vacuum port and overflow hopper outlet.

System shall automatically extract powder, transfer it to a buffer hopper, and dispense it onto a sieve for classification with an automatically controlled feed rate to prevent overload.

Includes two (2) vacuum hoses: one for the overflow hopper outlet and one for the printer vacuum port.

• Powder conveyor system suitable for handling nickel, cobalt chrome, and aluminum alloys (e.g., equivalent to Piab FC.P100.TX2.32 for aluminum).

• Must be capable of sieving under an inert gas atmosphere for all materials.

(Includes interchangeable sieve sets: two (2) 75-micron sieves (for nickel/aluminum) and two (2) 63-micron sieves (for cobalt chrome) per system.

• Features dual agitation methods (ultrasonic and vibratory) and an ultrasonic knocker to prevent powder bridging in the buffer hopper.

• Includes integrated scales for measuring both coarse waste and fine reclaimed powder.

• Must have an automated powder feed (e.g., pinch valve) from the buffer hopper to the sieve.

• The system for aluminum processing must be explosion-proof and compliant with

ATEX Zone 20 (or equivalent).

• All systems must have CE or UL certification.

• The manufacturer must demonstrate a minimum of five (5) years’ experience producing comparable powder handling and sieving systems.

• The manufacturer must provide redacted references from customers who have purchased the same system within the past twelve (12) months.
