About this file

This document is a detailed specification for a dump-plow truck for the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), outlining comprehensive requirements for a 60,000 GVW cab and chassis with a dump body designed for summer and winter road maintenance operations. The specification covers a fully equipped truck capable of performing dump truck duties during summer and snow plowing/salt/sand spreading during winter in mountainous terrain at altitudes up to 9,000 feet. The vehicle must meet specific performance standards, including a minimum 500 horsepower engine, 13-liter displacement, and ability to operate at 75 MPH, with precise requirements for frame construction, wheelbase, bumpers, hydraulic systems, electrical components, and specialized snow removal equipment.

The document includes detailed pricing options for additional equipment such as transmission upgrades, rust-proofing, wing plows, front plows, and sander configurations. Vendors are required to provide comprehensive documentation, including parts catalogs, shop manuals, operator manuals, and electrical schematics. A pre-build meeting is mandatory within two weeks of bid award to confirm specifications, and the successful bidder must provide training for mechanical and operational use at multiple NDOT locations across Nevada. The specification emphasizes stainless steel construction, specific brand requirements for components, and strict compliance with Nevada Revised Statutes and federal motor vehicle safety standards.
