About this file
This document is a detailed government specification for a dump truck and sander procurement by the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) for fiscal year 2025. The specification outlines precise requirements for a 60,000 GVW cab and chassis with a dump body and an 8 cubic yard hopper-type V-box spreader, designed for summer vocational dump truck duties and winter snow plowing in mountainous terrain at altitudes up to 9,000 feet. The vehicle must accommodate specific NDOT equipment configurations, including a push frame, plow, sander/spreader, and potentially a wing plow, with comprehensive technical specifications covering every aspect of the vehicle from engine and transmission to electrical systems, hydraulics, and lighting.
The procurement includes detailed performance and technical requirements, with specific manufacturers and models prescribed for critical components such as the hydraulic pump, controls, and spreader system. The specification allows for optional add-ons including a transmission upgrade, rust-proof frame coating, disc brakes, and a Henke postless patrol wing plow. While no specific pricing is mentioned in the document, the specifications indicate a comprehensive, purpose-built vehicle for extreme mountain road maintenance with extensive customization to meet NDOT's precise operational needs. The document includes provisions for a pre-build meeting, factory training, warranty requirements, and detailed manual and documentation provisions, suggesting a complex, high-value procurement process focused on meeting very specific operational requirements.
