About this file
This document is a software design document outlining the human-machine interface and programmable logic controller controls for a fish hatchery spawning treatment system. The system will maintain water levels in two tanks using a motorized valve, with alarms for high and low levels. The interface includes status screens, trend graphs, I/O mapping and alarm logs. It also details login procedures, email alarm settings, two modes of motorized valve control, IP addresses and battery maintenance. Technical support contact information is provided.

1 Overview
This document covers the Nimbus hatchery spawning treatment software design.
The control panel main function is to operate a motor operated vale (MOV) to maintain a water level in Tank 2 set by the operator. It also has local and remote alarms from the drum filter and ultra violet treatment tanks.

4 PLC Controls
4.1 Overview
The AD2000 is programmed to perform automatic control functions for the MOV to maintain a water level setpoint. It also provides a manual mode to position the MOV to any position from 0% to 100%.
The AD200 software is developed using Productivity Suite 2.4.2.2. This software runs under Microsoft Windows and can be downloaded from www.automationdirect.com for free.
4.1.1 Operation Modes
The operation mode is chosen using the selector switch located on the HMI Main screen. The two modes are Manual and Auto. The operation modes are described below.
Manual Operation Mode In this mode, the MOV position is control by a manual setpoint entered by the operator. When placed in this position the MOV will move to the setpoint. By entering a 0% setpoint, the valve will close, and water will stop flowing
Auto Operation Mode In this mode control of the PLC will control the MOV setpoint to maintain a level in Tank 2. The level setpoint is the elevation in feet.

6 Note on Batteries
The internal batteries will maintain the alarm during a power outage for approximately two hours. They should be check once a year to make sure no corrosion builds up on the terminals. Every two to three years they will need to be replaced.
