Base : Provide all equipment, materials, labor and hardware to clean the standing seam metal roof on Building 38 (approximately 32,000 SF) and remove all dirt, dust, mold, and mildew from its surface without the use of high-pressure sprayers. The preferred method of cleaning is to use a mixture in the following proportions: 1 gallon household bleach, 5 gallons of water, 1 cup of mild soap or low phosphate detergent to act as a surfactant. This mixture is to be applied working from top to bottom, one section at a time, using a well soaked cloth, sponge, very soft bristled brush, or low-pressure spray. Once a section is cleaned, it shall be immediately rinsed with a low-pressure spray of clean water. Other cleaning methods will be considered for approval but will first have to be demonstrated in an inconspicuous sample area for effectiveness without damaging the surface coating of the roof panels. The sample area will then be evaluated, and a decision rendered. High pressure, wire brushes, stiff brushes, or other abrasives which will mechanically abrade the coating surface shall not be employed in any method.
