About this file
This is a technical specifications attachment for a Request for Quotation (RFQ) issued by the Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service (ARS) for a livestock respiration chamber system. The solicitation number is 1232SA26Q0569 and is set-aside exclusively for small business concerns, with the applicable industry classification as Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing (NAICS 334516) and a small business size standard of 1,000 employees.
The respiration chamber will be used by NEA Food Systems Research in Burlington, Vermont to analyze gas fluxes—specifically methane, carbon dioxide, oxygen, and hydrogen eructation—from finishing beef cattle to support research on ruminal microbial composition and feed efficiency. The required system must include the following minimum specifications: capability to analyze gas fluxes from individual animals and aggregate herd averages; AC power plug operation; placement on a skid for in-barn mobility via skid steer; WiFi and cellular data transfer options for remote data collection; autocalibration functionality; Windows-compatible instrument software with data entry, management, and support features; capacity to sample up to 30 animals simultaneously; and on-site training and installation services. The delivery requirement is 90 days after receipt of award, with delivery to the Burlington, Vermont location. No government-furnished equipment or materials are specified for this acquisition.
