About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) regarding RFP BZ-2024-07 for the fabrication of large aluminum shells for the Test Facility Dipole (TFD) project at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, which is managed by the Department of Energy.

The Q&A addresses a typographical error in the drawings, indicating that drawing number DF-1001-0333A incorrectly references "ASTM 8594" instead of the correct "ASTM B594". The document confirms that this is a typo, and that the correct specification is included in the Statement of Work document DF-1001-8363, as well as in the updated Revision B of drawing DF-1001-0333. The solicitation is for the fabrication of two precision-machined aluminum shells to contain the superconducting magnet assembly for the TFD project.

RFP BZ-2024-07 Q&A v1.0 1

April 19, 2024

RFP BZ-2024-07: TFD Aluminum Shells Questions and Answers

Q1: Drawing number DF-1001-0333A appears to have a typographical error in the notes.

It says “ASTM 8594” and we believe it should say “ASTM B594.” See image below.

Can you please confirm?

A1: Yes, that is a typographical error. Section 4.2 of Statement of Work document number

DF-1001-8363 has the correct designation, and Revision B of drawing DF-1001-0333 has been uploaded to the RFP posting with the correction. We apologize for any misunderstanding and thank you for bringing that to our attention.
